Position Summary

The technician will analyze all repairs and maintenance of the Ammonia plant.

As part of the DSV team, Associates are expected to meet company objectives in the areas of performance, safety, and quality.  

   

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Duties

  • Technicians are expected to perform maintenance and repairs to rotary screw compressors, condensers, evaporators, boilers, pumps, valves, fans, piping, mechanical drives, electric motors, and industrial control systems, HVAC systems, dock equipment and general facility repairs.
  • Technicians are required to respond to and remediate releases of anhydrous ammonia
  • Maintain a proactive approach to ensure maximum efficiency and longer run-time of production line manufacturing equipment.
  • Produces consistently high-quality work to ensure excellent levels of customer satisfaction
  • Ability to read service manuals and understand electrical drawings and fault-finding procedures
  • Ability to understand and implement the manufacturer's standard working instructions within specified repair times.
  • Able to demonstrate knowledge of components & systems including electrics & hydraulics
  • Liaison with the Maintenance Manager to ensure the timely availability of parts for repair works and report
  • Discrepancies with the Line Manager on time.
  • Ensures cost-effective use of materials and available time to maintain the highest productivity levels
  • Perform non-technical assignments as requested by Maintenance management.
  • Follows safety procedures for the safe working of self and colleagues

  • Hand Tools.
  • Oil & Vacuum pumps.
  • Ammonia charging Hoses.
  • Leak testing equipment, soap/water spray bottle, Sulphur sticks or litmus paper
  • NH3 portable detector.
  • Canister type self-contained respirator or breathing apparatus.
  • Safety glasses.
  • Rubber gloves.
  • Face shield.
  • Gas tight goggles.
  • Welding machines
  • Specialized safety equipment if required & provided.

Education, Experience, Technical Skills

Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent Technical experience

Experience

8-10 years of experience in an Ammonia plant

Preferred Qualifications

  • 6-8 years of industry experience

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

Computer Skills

  • Proficient typing and PC Skills (Microsoft Office, Excel, and Word)

 

Language Skills

  • English (reading, writing, and verbal)

 

Other Skills

  • Reliability and Punctuality: Being dependable and consistently on time is crucial for maintaining office routines.
  • Attention to Detail: Carefulness in tasks like organizing and managing office supplies.
  • Basic Communication Skills: Ability to understand and follow instructions and communicate effectively with staff and visitors.
  • Physical Stamina: Capability to handle tasks that may involve physical activity, such as lifting supplies or moving equipment.
  • Adaptability: Flexibility to handle a variety of tasks and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Basic Technical Skills: Familiarity with office equipment like photocopiers and basic computer skills can be beneficial.
