Summary
The Business Analyst, Process Improvement & Automation supports transportation brokerage operations by assisting with business analysis, process improvement, reporting, and technology-enabled solutions. This role partners with agent owners, operations, sales, finance, and corporate support teams to understand business processes, identify opportunities for improvement, and support initiatives that enhance operational efficiency, customer service, and business performance.
The Business Analyst helps maintain reporting, document business processes, and support projects that improve day-to-day operations. This role also assists in identifying practical ways to leverage AI-enabled business tools and automation technologies to simplify repetitive tasks, improve productivity, and support operational excellence across the agent network.
Duties & Responsibilities
Business Analysis & Operational Support
- Assist with evaluating business processes and operational workflows to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Partner with agent owners, operations, sales, finance, and corporate support teams to understand business needs and operational challenges.
- Gather and document business requirements for process improvement initiatives and operational projects.
- Support the analysis of operational data to identify trends and opportunities for increased efficiency.
- Assist with cross-functional projects that improve operational performance and customer service.
- Help identify repetitive or manual business processes that could benefit from automation or AI-enabled business tools.
Process Improvement & Documentation
- Document and maintain business processes and operational workflows across brokerage functions.
- Develop and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), process maps, and work instructions.
- Assist with identifying process inefficiencies and recommending practical improvements.
- Support efforts to standardize business processes and promote operational consistency.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and special projects.
AI & Process Automation
- Assist in identifying repetitive or manual business processes that could benefit from AI-enabled business tools or automation.
- Support the development and maintenance of standardized prompts, templates, and resources that improve productivity and consistency.
- Utilize approved AI-enabled business tools to support reporting, documentation, and operational activities.
- Gather feedback from users and recommend opportunities for process improvements.
- Support the adoption of new business tools and technologies across operational teams.
- Follow company policies and best practices related to responsible AI usage and data privacy.
Data Analytics & Reporting
- Develop and maintain operational reports, dashboards, and scorecards.
- Monitor key performance indicators and assist with analyzing business trends.
- Support quoting activities and pipeline reporting.
- Help ensure the accuracy, consistency, and integrity of business data and reporting processes.
- Provide reporting and analysis to support operational decision-making.
- Assist in identifying opportunities to improve business performance through data insights.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel with the ability to develop and troubleshoot complex formulas and reporting tools.
Business Partnership & Change Support
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with agent owners, operations teams, and corporate support functions.
- Support the implementation and adoption of new business processes and operational improvements.
- Develop user guides, training materials, and process documentation.
- Communicate process updates and best practices to stakeholders.
- Support operational initiatives that improve consistency and service delivery across the agent network.
Continuous Improvement
- Support initiatives that improve operational efficiency through process improvements, automation, and AI-enabled business tools.
- Assist with developing and maintaining standardized business processes and operational resources.
- Evaluate operational feedback and suggest practical improvements.
- Participate in special projects and business initiatives as assigned.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.

Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Information Systems, Operations Management, or a related field preferred.
- 0-2 years of experience in business operations, logistics, transportation, customer service, or a related field preferred.
- Internship, co-op, or project experience involving AI enablement, data analysis, process improvement, reporting, or business operations is a plus.
- Familiarity with transportation brokerage operations is preferred but not required.
- Experience developing reports, dashboards, or business metrics is a plus.
- Familiarity with AI-enabled business productivity tools or workflow automation technologies is preferred.
- Experience utilizing Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude, Power BI, or similar business productivity applications is a plus.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications required.
- Experience with transportation management systems, CRM platforms, or other business systems is preferred but not required.

Physical Demands
This position primarily involves sedentary work performed in an office environment. The employee must be able to remain stationary for extended periods, frequently operate a computer and standard office equipment, and effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders in person, by telephone, and through virtual platforms. Occasional travel may be required to support agent locations, business initiatives, meetings, and training activities.
Work Environment
This position is primarily performed in a professional office or hybrid work environment and requires frequent collaboration with agent owners, agent operations teams, and corporate support functions. The role operates in a fast-paced transportation brokerage environment with multiple competing priorities and deadlines and requires the ability to adapt to evolving operational and business needs. Occasional travel may be required to support agent engagement, operational initiatives, training, and continuous improvement efforts across the agent network.

For this position, the expected base pay range is $60,000.00 – $70,000.00 Annual. Actual compensation will be determined based on job-related factors such as relevant experience, skills, education, certifications, and geographic location, in accordance with applicable laws and company policy.
