Pharma Manager

 

The Pharma Manager is responsible for managing all aspects of the import and export process of pharmaceutical  cargo, including coordination with freight forwarders, airlines, steamshiplines, customs brokers, and other service providers. The Pharma Manager ensures efficient and effective delivery of cargo and maintaining strong relationships with customers and vendors.  This role requires strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills, as well as a deep understanding of air and ocean freight logistics and regulations.

 

Duties and Responsibilities
•    Provide Operational Experience and Functional Know-How to lead and manage the Pharma department
•    Define and Implement Operations Procedures and SOPs, and ensure compliance to standards set in the Pharma QMS, HSE / ISO Quality Manual.
•    Ensure that Operations and Logistics Processes are carried out in an Efficient, Safe and Cost Effective manner.
•    Monitor Operations Department Performance on Operational Excellence (company KPIs) and initiate corrective measures when necessary
•    Manage a team of direct reports (hire, lead, train, coach, develop) 
•    Monitor pharma cold chain performance to identify, understand, and respond to changes
•    Develop and implement policies and procedures to improve efficiency and quality of service delivery
•    Identify and implement process improvements to reduce costs, improve service quality, and enhance customer satisfaction
•    Lead and/or assist with planning, design, implementation, communication, and delivery of Company initiatives within the healthcare vertical
•    Establish operations planning process and lead planning and execution of active and passive shipments by partnering with commercial operations / Key Account Management and other internal and external stakeholders
•    Work with QA to review and resolve all shipment issues (damage, temperature excursions, non-compliance)

 

Educational background / Work experience
•    A bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field is preferred 
•    At least 5 years of experience in freight forwarding, logistics, or a related field is required
•    Prior experience leading and managing a team is required
•    Prior experience with pharmaceutical customers and shipments is highly desirable
•    Experience in project management
•    Working knowledge of GDP and pharma industry procedures and regulations

•    Excellent leadership and communication skills
•    Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
•    Knowledge of logistics and supply chain management principles
•    Ability to work well under pressure and in a fast-paced environment
•    Effective problem solving and resolution of complex situations involving a range of technical, quality, regulatory, and pharma healthcare knowledge and expertise

 

Preferred Qualifications
•    Experience with leading air and ocean cargo logistics software and systems
•    Familiarity with air and ocean freight regulations, customs requirements, and import/export controls
•    Knowledge of airline and steamship lines routes and schedules
•    Working knowledge of GDP and pharma industry procedures and regulations


Language skills
•    Fluency in English is required
•    Knowledge of additional languages is a plus

 

Computer Literacy
•    Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
•    Experience with logistics software and systems is required

For this position, the expected base pay is: $78,000.00 - $117,500.00 / Annual.  Actual base compensation will be determined based on various factors including job-related knowledge, geographical location, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations.
