Summary

The Senior Project Manager, Group Property will be responsible to plan, budget, oversee, and document all aspects of projects related new building developments and construction, focused on warehousing and distribution centers that are typically between 500,000 sf and 1,500,000 sf. This Project Manager will work closely with DSV leadership to ensure that each project is on schedule, within scope, and on budget.  Critical to success of the Project Manager is detailed planning, proactive communication, and persistent monitoring of the execution of deliverables under the responsibility of all project resources to include internal functional area owners and external contractors.

 

As we continue to grow, our focus will be on expanding our footprint in the U.S. market. The Senior Project Manager will play a crucial role in this expansion by driving projects that support our strategic objectives and preparing for future initiatives.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership in initial planning stage by collaborating with internal stakeholders, architects, engineers, or other involved parties; develops detailed description of jobs and materials necessary to complete project.
  • Schedule and coordinate projects in logical steps and budget the time necessary to meet each deadline.
  • Run 2-3 projects at the same time.
  • Prepare and submit budget estimates and regular communication with internal stakeholders concerning budget progress and costs.
  • Ensure adherence to the budget and, when unexpected complications or issues arise, make quick and necessary adjustments.
  • Plan, coordinate, organize, oversee, and direct activities regarding the construction and maintenance of assigned structures, facilities, and systems.
  • Hold team members, contractors, et al. accountable to completion of deliverables pursuant to the task list and dates.
  • Lead regular status meetings with the project team to capture updates, next steps, and risks/mitigation.  Facilitate small groups for topics requiring more detailed discussion.
  • Ensure safety standards and guidelines are followed on the jobsite and that all safety codes are met in construction.
  • Oversee contract negotiations, revisions, and additions and adherence by all parties.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, supervisory staff, contractors, and design professionals to discuss and resolve problems, including work procedures, complaints, and construction or design issues.
  • Manage and lead actions that are necessary due to delays, bad weather, or emergencies at construction sites.
  • Develop and maintain good working relationships with a variety of people, including owners, managers, designers, supervisors, tradespersons, and craft workers.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

 

Educational background / Work experience

  • Four-year degree (Construction, Engineering, Architecture or related field preferred)
  • Minimum of 5 years relevant Construction experience
  • Minimum of 5 years Logistics/Warehousing Industry experience 

 

Function / Market & Industry Knowledge / Business Acumen / Processes

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • PMP or other formal project management training
  • LEED or other sustainability program experience
  • Familiarity with various project delivery methods, building codes, and other regulatory requirements.  
  • Experience with design phase conformance reviews, quality control reviews, and constructability reviews
  • Experience in managing retrofits and new construction programs with a planning, architectural, engineering or construction project management background. 
  • Clear understanding of relationship between owner, architect, and contractor on a construction project. 
  • Experience with state and local agencies
  • Track record of successful project closeout (on time and on budget). 
  • Extensive client interaction requires exceptional people and communication skills (verbal and written). 
  • The successful candidate must be organized, efficient, and thrive in an environment with multiple deadlines. 
  • Must be a self-starter and able to work in a team environment.

 

Language skills

  • English (reading, writing, verbal), Spanish a plus
  • Interpersonal communication and language skills (e.g., listening to others, speaking to others, reading, writing).
  • Communication with all levels of business from floor staff to executives, to include facilitation of meetings and/or workshops.

Computer Literacy

  • Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project & Visio
  • Procore or other Construction Management Software 
  • AutoCAD is a plus.

For this position, the expected base pay is: $153,000.00 - $229,000.00 / Annual.  Actual base compensation will be determined based on various factors including job-related knowledge, geographical location, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations.
