Job Posting Title: Senior Team Lead, Drayage Operations

Summary 

   The Senior Team Lead, Drayage Operations will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Drayage team. This includes ensuring that shipments are handled efficiently and effectively, maintaining compliance with all regulations, and providing excellent customer service. The Senior Team Lead will also serve as a mentor and coach to team members, providing guidance and support as needed. 

 

Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Manage all drayage operations within a specified geographic region, ensuring efficient and timely movement of goods.
  • Fulfill a dual role as a "Player Coach," actively participating in and leading drayage operations team to ensure smooth execution and team success.
  • Manage carrier relationships, including handling inquiries, resolving issues, and ensuring carrier satisfaction. 
  • Collaborate closely with other departments such as sales, customer service, and logistics to ensure alignment of goals and objectives.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with carriers, vendors, and other partners to ensure high-quality service and competitive pricing. 
  • Ensure all shipments are actioned, documented, and updated in a accurate and timely manner.
  • Monitor industry trends and developments and make recommendations for process improvements and cost savings. 
  • Communicate with management and other stakeholders on a regular basis to provide updates on team performance, customer issues, and other relevant information. 
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, policies, and procedures governing drayage operations.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance processes, systems, and workflows to support business growth and scalability.
  • Drive cost-effective strategies by skillfully negotiating and quoting rates with carriers, both on a spot and long-term basis, to optimize operational efficiency and financial performance.
  • Lead performance reviews with carriers, meticulously evaluating Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to ensure alignment with organizational objectives and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

 

Educational background / Work experience 

  • Bachelor's degree in business, logistics, supply chain management, or a related field is preferred, but not required. 
  • At least 3 years of experience in Drayage operations or a related field is required. 
  • Prior experience in a supervisory or leadership role is preferred. 

 

Skills & Competencies 

  • Strong knowledge of Drayage regulations, procedures, and documentation requirements 
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously. 
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with team members, customers, and partners. 
  • Ability to analyze data and make informed decisions based on that data. 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Supervisory Responsibilities (if any) 

  • The Drayage Senior Team Lead will be responsible for overseeing the work of the Drayage team, which may include supervising team members and coordinating with other departments and teams. 

 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Certification in logistics or supply chain management is preferred. 
  • Prior experience working with Drayage carriers, brokers, and transportation providers is a plus. 
  • Experience with industry-specific software.

 

Language skills 

  • Fluent in English (oral and written) 

 

Computer Literacy 

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, is required. 
  • Experience with industry-specific software is a plus 

 

 

 

 

For this position, the expected base pay is: $62,500 - $84,500/ Annual.  Actual base compensation will be determined based on various factors including job-related knowledge, geographical location, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations.
