SUMMARY

The DSV Supervisor, Drayage is a key role for the DSV Road Inc.  This supervisor will manage and lead our drayage team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in logistics, specifically in drayage operations, and will ensure efficient and effective movement of freight through our brokerage.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead, coach, and mentor a team of drayage representatives to achieve individual and team goals.
  • Manage day-to-day operations of drayage freight brokerage, including with carriers, dispatching, and tracking shipments.
  • Support strategic initiatives and projects related to drayage operations as needed
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations, set clear expectations, and identify opportunities for development.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with carriers to ensure reliable capacity and exceptional service levels.
  • Negotiate rates and terms with carriers to optimize profitability and meet customer requirements.
  • Identify and onboard new carriers to expand the company’s network and enhance service offerings.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, regulations, and best practices to ensure compliance and drive continuous improvement.
  • Manage and monitor freight movements to ensure on-time delivery and compliance with customer requirements.
  • Collaborate with other departments to resolve issues and enhance operational efficiency.
  • Implement best practices and process improvements to enhance operations and drive continuous improvement.
  • Analyze KPIs to assess performance gaps and drive results.

  • Performs and completes other duties or projects as assigned.
  • Leads by example; motivates and supports co-workers, integrates, and promotes the DSV strategy into daily actions and interactions.
  • Manages customer service and internal DSV relationships.

 

SUPERVISORY DUTIES

  • Oversees the branch’s Drayage team members.
  • Reviews and approves weekly schedules and time off requests for Drayage Representatives.
  • Delegates and distributes workloads and/or duties as appropriate.
  • Assesses staffing needs, assist in conducting interviews and assists with hiring decisions in coordination with the Branch Manager.
  • Maintains a positive work atmosphere and leads by example.
  • Ensures compliance with company policies, rules, and regulations.

 

 

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS (SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES)        

 

Education and/or Experience

 

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 3 years’ experience with transportation operations or related experience.
  • 2 years’ freight brokerage experience, with a focus in drayage.
  • Strong Understanding of Drayage operations, including transportation modes, regulations, and industry practices
  • .

 

Computer Skills

  • PC literacy is necessary
  • Basic computer skills including Microsoft office proficient

 

Language Skills

 

  • English (reading, writing, verbal)

 

Mathematical Skills

  • Advanced mathematical skills for project development.

Other Skills

 

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to compose routine to moderately complex letters, and to edit and proof business correspondences and reports.
  • Able to present information to all levels of the organization, with the ability to function within a group dynamic.
  • Ability to balance multiple duties at once and possess a high attention to detail.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and business needs.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES)

  • 5 years’ of experience with an operations group or similar experience.
  • 5 years’ freight brokerage experience, with a focus on drayage.
  • College degree in Logistics and Supply Chain, Business Administration, or a similar field.

For this position, the expected base pay is: $69,000 - $93,000/ Annual.  Actual base compensation will be determined based on various factors including job-related knowledge, geographical location, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations.
