SUMMARY

 

The Logistics Engineer is responsible for supporting current customer operations and business development.  They utilize state of the art optimization, modeling, and simulation tools to develop cost effective service sensitive supply chain solutions.  Projects involve analyzing all or part of the supply chain network to include the following: facility location analysis, transportation savings analysis, dedicated fleet analysis, facility layout and design analysis, and product sourcing analysis.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Develops project scope and timeline
  • Gathers necessary data and information to perform analysis; deliver data to client
  • SOP Creation/Tracking
  • Development of freight network simulation models to establish and validate operational and/or cost improvements to freight networks
  • Design alternative network solutions to support client operational requirements
  • Development of daily/weekly performance metrics, both internal and external to aid in management of the account(s)
  • Identifies and quantifies potential supply chain improvements
  • Works closely with customer and company operations to establish supply chain improvement recommendations
  • Develops report that summarizes findings and recommendations
  • Presents and defends findings to the Customer
  • Develops and maintains detailed project plans, both internal and external
  • Provides account support to quantify and validate supply chain improvements after implementation.
  • Development of daily/weekly performance metrics, both internal and external to aid in management of the account(s)
  • Works in cross functional groups to re-design processes to improve quality and productivity
  • Trains associates and clients in the use of multiple solution and software tools
  • Performs other duties as needed

 

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

 

Education and/or Experience

 

  • College Degree in Logistics, Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, or related field preferred.
  • 2 years’ of experience in a logistics/supply chain engineering role.
  • 2 years’ of experience with supply chain optimization and simulation modeling tools.

 

 

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES

 

Computer Skills

  • Expert-level proficiency with Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, Access, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with JDA Transportation Modeler or similar systems simulation software desired.

 

Language Skills

  • English (reading, writing, verbal)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to compose routine to moderately complex letters and to edit and proof business correspondence and reports.

 

 Mathematical Skills

  • Position requires strong mathematical skills for project development

 

Other Skills

  • Superior analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Strong project management skills; ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Self-starting; able to manage a project independently from beginning to end.
  • Must be available to travel as required for short duration trips <10%
  • The ability to work well under pressure

 

PREFERRED SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS

  • Prosci, Lean, Six Sigma or other process improvement certification

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee uses his/her hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, or crouch; talk or hear.  The employee uses computer and telephone equipment.  Specific vision requirements of this job include close vision and distance vision.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee rarely is exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.

 

For this position, the expected base pay range is $76,000 - $114,500 annually. Actual compensation will be determined based on job-related factors, including relevant experience, skills, education or certifications, and geographic location, consistent with applicable laws and company policy.
