Summary

Interested in getting paid to travel the country while putting your Class A CDL to work in a specialized driving role?

 

DSV is hiring CDL-A Drivers to travel throughout the U.S., transporting and installing data racks, servers, and other high-value technology equipment at data centers and customer locations.

 

This is more than a traditional driving position. In addition to operating a Class A commercial vehicle, you’ll work as an active member of the delivery and installation crew, providing white-glove service while safely loading, unloading, moving, securing, positioning, and installing sensitive equipment.

 

Travel is an essential part of this position. Assignments are typically 1–2 weeks at a time and may extend up to 2–3 weeks. DSV provides transportation and lodging while traveling, and drivers must be able to accept travel assignments with minimum notice.

 

This position pays $36.00–$38.00 per hour and provides a 40-hour weekly guarantee when you remain available to work assigned schedules and required travel. Additional hours and overtime may be available based on business needs.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Safely operate DSV Class A commercial motor vehicles and transport high-value data racks, servers, and other technology equipment in compliance with applicable DOT and FMCSA regulations and DSV safety requirements.
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and promptly report safety, mechanical, or equipment concerns.
  • Perform trip planning and follow designated routes, delivery instructions, security requirements, and customer-specific procedures.
  • Inspect freight for visible damage, discrepancies, or other concerns before departure and report issues in accordance with established procedures.
  • Complete required transportation, delivery, and compliance documentation, including Proof of Delivery (POD), electronic logs, and shipping documents.
  • Safely load, unload, move, stage, position, and install data racks, server systems, and other high-value equipment using proper handling techniques.
  • Secure cargo using approved equipment and procedures to prevent movement or damage during transit.
  • Safely use pallet jacks, dollies, lift gates, ramps, lift-assist devices, and other approved material-handling equipment.
  • Follow established SOPs, installation instructions, chain-of-custody requirements, and customer and site-specific safety, security, and access procedures.
  • Wear required PPE, maintain professional work attire, and provide professional white-glove service throughout transportation, delivery, and installation activities.
  • Communicate effectively with Driver Helpers, operational teams, customers, and onsite personnel throughout each assignment.
  • Identify and promptly escalate delays, shipment discrepancies, equipment concerns, compliance concerns, or unsafe or unclear work conditions; stop work when necessary to ensure safe and compliant execution.
  • Adapt transportation, delivery, and installation activities when conditions change while continuing to follow applicable safety requirements, SOPs, and customer instructions.
  • Maintain regular and reliable availability for frequent nationwide travel, including overnight and extended assignments, and accept travel assignments with minimum notice.
  • Work flexible schedules, including extended hours, weekends, and overtime, based on operational requirements.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support operations.

 

Qualifications & Experience

  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) required.
  • Meet all DOT qualification requirements under FMCSR Part 391, including maintaining a current DOT Medical Examiner’s Certificate.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of verified commercial driving experience within the past four (4) years; three (3) or more years preferred.
  • Satisfactory motor vehicle record and employment history.
  • No positive drug or alcohol test within the past five (5) years.
  • No DUI, DWI, reckless driving conviction, or speeding violation of 12 MPH or more over the posted speed limit within the past five (5) years.
  • No preventable accident involving bodily injury within the past three (3) years.
  • Basic computer and electronic logging device (ELD) proficiency.
  • Experience supporting white-glove delivery, data center logistics, or the transportation of high-value or sensitive equipment preferred.
  • Experience installing or assisting with IT equipment, server racks, or other technical equipment preferred; training provided.
  • Ability to safely handle, move, position, and protect large, heavy, and fragile equipment and use required material-handling equipment.
  • Ability and willingness to meet the travel and scheduling requirements of the position.

  • Ability to read, write, understand, and communicate effectively in English as required to safely perform the essential functions of the position and comply with applicable commercial driving requirements.

 

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to sit for extended periods while operating a commercial motor vehicle and use hands and fingers to operate vehicle controls and electronic equipment. The employee is also regularly required to stand and walk while performing delivery and installation activities. The position requires lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing, balancing, bending, twisting, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, and working in confined spaces and varied physical positions.

 

The employee must be physically able, with or without reasonable accommodation, to:

  • Lift and carry 50 pounds or more repeatedly throughout the shift.
  • Push, pull, maneuver, and position freight weighing up to 5,000 pounds using pallet jacks or other approved material-handling equipment.
  • Stand and walk for extended periods while performing delivery and installation activities.
  • Frequently reach, squat, kneel, crouch, bend, twist, push, and pull while handling, positioning, securing, and installing equipment.
  • Perform installation activities in confined spaces and varied physical positions, including prone positioning when required.
  • Safely enter and exit the tractor cab and access trailer areas using available steps and handholds.
  • Couple and uncouple tractor and trailer equipment, operate fifth-wheel release mechanisms, and raise and lower trailer landing gear.
  • Perform required vehicle inspections and safely operate vehicle controls and equipment.
  • Maintain balance on surfaces that may include pavement, gravel, concrete, metal, loading docks, construction flooring, ramps, and uneven or slippery surfaces.
  • Safely operate pallet jacks, dollies, lift gates, ramps, lift-assist devices, securing equipment, manual tools, and other approved equipment.
  • Meet all applicable DOT physical qualification requirements for commercial motor vehicle drivers.

 

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this position, the employee works in a variety of environments, including commercial motor vehicles, warehouses, loading docks, trucks and trailers, data centers, active construction sites, commercial buildings, customer facilities, public roadways, and other controlled or secured locations. Work environments may include confined spaces, active construction activity, sensitive equipment, restricted-access areas, and site-specific safety and security requirements.

 

The employee may be exposed to varying indoor and outdoor temperatures, weather conditions, diesel exhaust, dust, airborne particles, noise, vibration, moving vehicles and equipment, and uneven or slippery surfaces. Noise levels may range from moderate during transportation and warehouse activities to loud at construction, delivery, and installation locations.

Frequent nationwide travel is an essential requirement of the position and includes overnight stays and extended periods away from home. Travel assignments are typically one (1) to two (2) weeks at a time but may extend up to two (2) to three (3) weeks based on customer and operational needs.

For this position, the expected base pay range is $36.00–$38.00 per hour.
