Move forward as a Freight Forwarder Iceland at DSV in Dordrecht

Everything revolves around Iceland. That is the motto of the Iceland department at DSV Air & Sea in Dordrecht. Every day, you coordinate with your colleagues to load and transport LCL shipments from our warehouse to Rotterdam, and from there, weekly shipments are sent to Iceland.

You get it done

In Iceland, there is little self-production. This means that many products are imported from all over the world.DSV, in collaboration with its foreign offices, ensures that these goods reach their destination. This includes container transportation overseas from Asia to the port of Rotterdam, and then from Rotterdam to Iceland again over sea. All delivered at the right rate and on time. You work on it.

How do you do this? You are responsible for handling exports for our Iceland department. Upon the arrival of the cargo at our warehouse in Dordrecht, you take charge of the planning and transportation. For each weekly departure, you determine how many shipments can fit into the containers. You coordinate with the customer, the container carrier, the departure terminal, the Icelandic agent, and your colleagues from the warehouse on the best way to load and transport these containers. You draft instructions for preparing customs documents, create loading lists for the warehouse, and ensure that invoicing is in order.You get this done by:

• processing orders from Iceland in system and converting to import shipments;
• liaising with overseas DSV offices and shipping companies to request tariffs;
• organising road transport from terminal to terminal for weekly sailing to Iceland;
• providing updates and rates to customers, via phone and email, on current shipments.

You bring

• MBO working and thinking level;
• a motivated, enthusiastic, and committed work attitude;
• at least 3 years of work experience in freight forwarding, preferably in the field of LCL export;
• basic knowledge of hazardous materials and customs documentation;
• a good knowledge of Dutch and English to be able to speak or e-mail with customers.
