Customs Compliance Manager

A position for a Compliance Manager has become available at DSV LTD, Harwich.

The Customs Compliance Manager will be supporting all 3 divisions (Road, Air & Sea and Solutions) within DSV in all levels of customs activity.  The candidate will be driving a high level of customs compliance and ensuring that all DSV custom compliance policies are adhered to.


•    To ensure full compliance (entering through to audit) of Customs Documentation for freight shipments.
•    Utilising knowledge of customs tariffs, CPC codes and security declarations to ensure shipment are cleared in a timely manner.
•    Support and advise on all international import / export requirements especially with new processes brought upon by Brexit. 
•    To advise the business and generate plans to mitigate the risks and take opportunities from Brexit and other geopolitical and legislative change.
•    To ensure the business is constantly compliant with all HMRC processes and any changes to legislation are implemented throughout the business
•    Providing Technical Industry Compliance knowledge to support the business and acting as the primary lead for the reliable sourcing of information for UK Customs
•    Updating of Government information/legislation or organisational information and requirements and sharing this with the team.
•    Leading the audit and review of Customs declarations to ensure compliance with our own requirements as well as statutory.
•    Support in Bonded Store Certification requirements, audits, improvement plan
•    Be the lead stake holder for any external Customs audits and enquiries.
•    Continual review and business support for the impact of Brexit.
•    Customs Support: (providing import support providing clear instructions for import entry amendment, identifying, and managing duty mitigation opportunities and efficiencies, maintaining import records)

•    Export support (providing export support around documentation, managing transactions, approval of
•    Serve as single point of contact for local (national) trade compliance authorities and country management in handling trade compliance relating to exports, cross-border shipments, customers, or vendors.
•    Oversee trade related archiving requirements, ensure that trade compliance records are kept and retrievable, as defined in the relevant instructions and regulations
•    Customs and Export Control Classification
•    Ensure all imported and exported products, software and technologies are properly classified with respect to relevant national and international export control regulations and national tariff
•    Develop and implement a strategy to monitor, manage and mitigate trade compliance related risks and opportunities, including close cooperation with customs operations staff and the preparation and use of regular local internal trade reviews (audits of trade compliance) in the Local Businesses


•    Excise movement guarantee management
•    Extensive National Community Transit System experience
•    Good working knowledge of Common Transit Convention
•    Excise Movement and Control System (EMCS entries and management
•    Good knowledge of export licensing and export controls.
•    CFSP management
•    CSE-customs supervised exports
•    AEO certification experience and understanding of AEO requirements
•    Export Controls and licensing experience
•    Proficient in Destin8/CNS/CHIEF/SPIRE/Various Customs Clearance software packages 
•    ETSF management Air, Road and Sea (security and customs activity)
•    Customs Warehouse Management
•    Import Licensing experience 
•    Movements under carnet and temporary admission
•    Transit Accompanying Documents (TADs)-discharges and declarations including authorised consignor/consignee.
•    UK Trade Tariffs Volume 1,2,3
•    Duty Deferment Management
•    Customs regulations e.g. Taxation (Cross-border Trade) Act 2018 and the Customs (Export) (EU Exit) Regulations 2019.
•    IPR/OPR/PCC Management (Inward Processing Relief, Outward Processing Relief
