SUMMARY

 

GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Manage the operations team specifically dealing with oversize freight or turnkey logistics services across large capital projects.
  • Direct subject matter expertise to the team and clients, as it relates to the end-to-end global transportation of large oversize equipment.
  • Develop the project managers within the team to heighten their skills in project management and effective communication.
  • Drive compliance and continuous improvement across the team within the framework of our quality management system.
  • Deliver DSV’s project services is a safe, timely and compliant manner to the expectations of the client and it’s stakeholders.
  • On-board people with appropriate skill sets to support company goals and objectives and provide support for those people to do the same.
  • Smoothly assimilate new hires into the organization and provide support for subsequent levels of management in the branch to do the same.
  • Set performance goals and expectations.
  • Conduct regular performance appraisals and ensure that subsequent levels of management in the branch are doing the same.
  • Review staff training logs and ensure staff are up to date on all required trainings.
  • Reward, recognize, and retain employees when appropriate.
  • Use flash reports and monthly reports to ensure profitability.
  • Manage cash flow and DSO.
  • Grow revenue.
  • Increase net income.
  • Control expenses and maximize transportation yield. 
  • Identify and remove non-value-added steps from operational processes and/or support the branches effort to do so.

 

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Acitvely promote a culture of healyh and safety and participate in safety reviews and progress meetings. 
  • Draw up and deploy project operating plans for named specific projects.
  • Manage the project operations team for effective outcomes according to the stages in each project life cycle.
  • Ensure that good relationships with client’s group and other stakeholders is maintained.
  • Provide oversight and leadership on the safe compliant delivery, end to end of specialized transport movements within the agreed KPi’s
  • Ensure the Operations is following procedures according to DSV’s quality management system.
  • Support procurement with scope and general requirements when tendering to sub-contractors. Existing and new projects.
  • Attend daily project progress meetings when needed.
  • Coordinate and manage monthly project and quarterly reviews.
  • Provide leadership to the operations team through active coaching and mentoring of project personnel.
  • Identify continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Be willing to travel to sites within the project supply chain.
  • Create and develop an enjoyable working environment, promoting free thinking hard work and mile-stone delivery.

  • Lead and manage diverse team through influence and persuasion, often without direct oversight.
  • Collaborate closely with regional and local staff.
  • Provide proper guidance and coaching to team.

QUALIFICATIONS (SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES REQUIRED)

 

Education and/or Experience

 

  • 5 years Freight Forwarding experience specifically in managing a team of project freight forwarders.
  • Experience with Vessel, Port and Transport operations with respect to oversize equipment.

For this position, the expected base pay is: $72,500 - $109,000/ Annual.  Actual base compensation will be determined based on various factors including job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations.
