The Financial Controller’s mission is to ensure accurate, reliable and quality reporting of different entities within the Cluster MENA by monitoring GP related matters, reviewing the PLBS and ensuring key controls are adhered to. The Financial Controller needs to support the Business Controlling Manager of Contract Logistics, MENA and In-Country Finance with clear and objective comments on different daily business maters based on the site performance and provide operations with a means of guidance on its decisions regarding its business performance.
General Responsibilities:
- Support function to the Business Controlling Manager for Contract Logistics and In-Country Finance teams.
- Prepare and present the internal reporting (management accounts based on SAP SAC and TMS reports) to business and provide detailed comments on the main events that occurred during the month (variance analysis)
- Analyze the site/branch/product results and propose different initiatives to improve profitability and productivity.
- Organize, support and guide the target process with local finance and business. Prepare the P&L budget based on the SAP SAC tools.
- Reconcile targets and forecasts in AFO against final country submissions and RtR inputs to ensure consistency and accuracy across systems.
- Support Local Finance by guiding and supporting initiatives to help drive improved profitability.
- Support local finance with rolling forecasts and then report to Group.
- Analyse and improve the different processes regarding the estimations of the work in progress (run off’s), unbilled work in progress, cost centre reporting, functional area and overall gross profit.
- Reconcile the billing data from the Transportation Management System (TMS) with the financial records in SAP/CW1 (or other finance systems) to ensure completeness, accuracy, and proper revenue. recognition.
- Follow up the evolution of the EBIT and deliver a forecast for month end.
- Analyse EBIT trends to identify and investigate anomalies, providing clear explanations for variances to support informed financial decision-making.
- Prepare and present reports to local finance/business like – sales reports, client profitability/returns, product reports and daily GP dashboards.
- Key knowledge of Revenue drivers and analysis, to assist in preparation of quarterly reports for Group.
- Support in being the point of contact between the Regional Shared Service centre and Operations/Country Finance.
- Ensure the SAP Controlling structure (cost centres) is validated by local finance and business and update this in the relevant systems.
- Knowledge of Local Key reporting to be able to prepare and analyse customer reporting.
- Develop a solid understanding of warehouse operations and processes to effectively support and contribute to site-level reporting for Regional Finance Management.
- Assist Local Finance with Property data management.
- Analyse and report on staff costs (detailed review) and FTE’s.
- Participate in the Local Management meetings representing the RSSC Controlling.
- Ensure that the different financial processes are respected locally not only by the Finance employees but also by Operations.
- Assist with the Group and Local Statutory audits (IFRS) by providing local relevant information requested by the auditors.
- Support in preparing and presenting special reporting required by business/local finance (Board presentations/ business cases/ ROIC)
- Ad-hoc duties as and when required.
Qualifications & Characteristics:
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a financial controller/financial manager role.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a Shared Services Finance environment dealing with controlling functions.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in operational finance management function in the Contract Logistics environment.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Must be controls and process focused.
- Must be able to work well under pressure and deliver on deadlines.
- Good understanding of financial statements, balance sheet recons and reports.
- Must be a team player.
- Must possess good time management skills.
- Ability to work long hours of overtime when necessary.
- Self-Starter who will use own initiative.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Have a creative and problem-solving approach.
- Previous experience in a Shared Services environment would be an added advantage.(Finance function)
