The Operational Excellence Trainer is responsible for designing, developing, delivering, and maintaining operational, process, and Transport Management System (TMS) training programs that support employee onboarding, acquisitions, continuous learning, process excellence, system adoption, and change management across the Air & Sea business. The role serves as the central training resource for operational systems, business processes, data quality, reporting, compliance requirements, and operational best practices. The Trainer will ensure employees are equipped with the knowledge, skills, and behaviours required to perform effectively while supporting future system migrations and technology transformation initiatives. The succesful candidate will be based in DSV Dubai.

Detailed Responsibilities:

 

Training Strategy & Development

  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive Operational Excellence training framework in alignment and complementary to global standards
  • Design, create, and update training materials, presentations, SOPs, starter guides, reference manuals, quick reference sheets, and learning aids to reflect specific regional and/ or country requirements
  • Create standardized onboarding programs for new operational employees, management, acquisitions, refresher training, and Super User development.
  • Develop competency-based learning paths aligned to business requirements.
  • Ensure all content remains current with system, process, and business changes.

 

Training Delivery

  • Deliver instructor-led training sessions both virtually and face-to-face across MEA Region
  • Facilitate onboarding programs for all new employees.
  • Conduct refresher and advanced training programs.
  • Deliver acquisition-related training and hypercare support.
  • Facilitate annual BSU specialist training and accreditation preparation.
  • Customize training delivery based on operational, management, finance, customs, warehouse, and support-function requirements.

 

Transport Management System (TMS) Training & Systems Enablement

  • Act as the primary training specialist for current and future operational systems.
  • Develop and maintain baseline TMS training content aligned to business requirements and operational processes.
  • Create role-based learning paths for Operations, Finance, Customs, Management, BSU, and Support Functions.
  • Deliver training covering system navigation, core functionality, operational workflows, data quality, reporting, billing, shipment lifecycle management, compliance, and productivity.
  • Develop transition training plans to support future TANGO implementation and adoption.
  • Support user readiness, knowledge transfer, and post-go-live stabilization during system migrations.
  • Act as liaison between Operations, Operational Excellence, IT, and system owners regarding training requirements and user adoption.

 

System Upgrades, Releases & Change Adoption

  • Develop and deliver training related to system upgrades, releases, enhancements, and new functionality.
  • Review release notes and system updates to determine training requirements and business impact.
  • Design communication and awareness material highlighting new functionality and process changes.
  • Facilitate release readiness sessions before major system deployments.
  • Conduct refresher and reinforcement sessions following system upgrades.
  • Create quick reference guides, user manuals, videos, and knowledge articles for newly released functionality.
  • Measure adoption and effectiveness of new features through feedback, assessments, and performance monitoring.
  • Support testing activities by participating in user acceptance testing (UAT) and developing business-focused test scenarios.
  • Provide ongoing support to ensure users maximize the value of system enhancements and continuous technology improvements.

 

Assessment & Competency Management

  • Develop training assessments, quizzes, exams, and competency evaluations.
  • Establish and maintain pass-rate standards.
  • Measure training effectiveness and learner competency.
  • Conduct onboarding assessments and post-training evaluations.
  • Provide individual coaching and development recommendations.

 

Onboarding & Employee Development

  • Manage monthly onboarding programs for new employees.
  • Coordinate 30-, 60-, and 90-day onboarding reviews.
  • Support managers with employee development and capability-building plans.
  • Conduct training handovers to line managers following onboarding completion.
  • Provide ongoing coaching and support during employee integration.

 

Continuous Improvement & Operational Excellence

  • Identify knowledge gaps and operational performance opportunities.
  • Use training feedback and operational metrics to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Promote best practices, Lean principles, process adherence, and data quality standards.
  • Support BCM initiatives through targeted training interventions.
  • Assist with change management and user adoption activities.
  • Lead training-related change management initiatives associated with process improvements, system enhancements, and digital transformation projects.
  • Drive user adoption and business readiness for future platforms.
  • Identify opportunities to improve system utilization and operational efficiency through targeted training interventions.
  • Maintain a training roadmap aligned to operational priorities, business strategy, and technology evolution.

 

 Records, Compliance & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate training registers and attendance records.
  • Ensure compliance with HR, audit, and POPIA requirements.
  • Track training completion, competence levels, and adoption metrics.
  • Produce regular training reports and dashboards.
  • Maintain training documentation repositories.

 

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Partner with Operations, Finance, Customs, Warehouse, Management, IT, HR, L&D, and BCM teams.
  • Support branch and country-specific training requirements.
  • Conduct quarterly business reviews to identify training needs.
  • Act as an internal subject matter expert for operational systems and processes.

 

 

Minimum Qualifications

 

Education

  • Diploma or degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Management, Industrial Engineering, Learning & Development, Organizational Development, or a related field.

 

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in freight forwarding and logistics.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience delivering training, coaching, or facilitation.
  • Strong operational experience across Air, Sea, Road, Customs, or Supply Chain functions.
  • Experience supporting system implementations, process improvement, or change management initiatives.

 

 Technical Knowledge

  • Advanced knowledge of Transport Management Systems (TMS).
  • Strong understanding of freight forwarding operations.
  • Knowledge of Air Freight, Sea Freight, Customs processes, Billing and Finance processes, Data Quality, Operational Reporting, Power BI, and Learning Management Systems (LMS).
  • Experience with system migration projects is advantageous.
  • Exposure to TANGO/CW1 or similar next-generation logistics platforms will be beneficial.
