Minimum Requirements.

Grade 12, a Logistics or Supply Chain Management degree, or 4-year equivalent advanced diploma (BTECH, BCom, HCom)

+ 5 Years experience in warehouse and transportation supply chain logistics

+ 5 Years experience in the setup and management of EDI and API Standards and Protocols, Data Mapping and Transformation, Integration Middleware, Message Queues and Brokers, Scripting and Programming Languages, Database Technologies

 

Job Related Requirements.

Knowledge of Transport and Warehouse processes.

Experience in warehouse management and transport management systems.

Advanced Microsoft SQL, PostgreSQL, VBA, database querying and scripting.

Advanced user experience within MS Office, focussed on Excel.

Ability to assess a need or an inefficiency and formulate solutions to address the need.

Ability to translate customer and operational requirements into a functional and/or configuration solution.

Ability to document technical solution designs, specification, flow diagrams, mapping specifications.

Ability to lead and manage a team with focus growth, retention, and development.

Ability to function efficiently with limited supervision.

Ability to communicate effectively with peers and customers at lower and higher levels.

Main purpose of the role.

We are seeking an experienced Business Support Manager with a strong technical background in the supply chain warehousing and transport sector, specializing in supply chain orchestration platform software. The ideal candidate will have extensive expertise in complex platform configurations, interface integrations, troubleshooting, user support, solution documentation, testing, development, team leadership, and budget management. As the Business Support Manager, you will lead a team responsible for ensuring the smooth operation, optimization, and continuous improvement of our supply chain orchestration systems while reporting into business and liaising with the various IT teams. This role will also report directly into the General Manager for Freight Management Services and will be based at DSV Park, Kempton Park, Johannesburg.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

Managing and leading a technical support team.

Accountability as the technical lead for support and cost management.

Receiving, assessing, resolution and communications of systems issues.

Relationship management between business, internal and external service providers.

Delivering suitable systems up time, and quality of service to business and its customers.

Translation of business requirements or challenges into technical specification proposals.

Design, document and implementation of systems changes, enhancements.

Lead testing of new systems services, products, process changes or enhancements.

Maintain system related documentation including data security, design flows and user guidelines.

Continuous evaluation and optimisation of systems processes, interfaces, protocols.

Deliver sustainable and efficient business user training on existing and new system functionalities.

Monitoring and mitigation action to systems related performance or functionality challenges.

Active contribution to the effectiveness, efficiency, and user friendliness of the systems.

In the longer term it is expected that participation in designing, as well as setting up in full, of reports for financial results, performance and shipment details becomes part of the role. This all in conjunction with Global IT.
