Main Purpose of the Role
The QSHE Manager is responsible for ensuring that DSV Shared Facilities operate in full compliance with the ISO Integrated Management System (IMS), QSHE procedures, Healthcare QMS requirements, and all applicable legal, regulatory, and contractual obligations. The role provides leadership, oversight, and continuous improvement of Quality, Safety, Health, and Environmental standards across designated shared facilities.
Tertiary Qualification
- Certificate in Business Administration / General Management
- Health and Safety related certification
Computer Literacy Level (basic, intermediate, or advanced MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook)

Duties & Responsibilities (Daily / weekly / monthly tasks)
- Ensure national compliance with DSV policies, Health and Safety legislation, processes, work instructions, maintenance schedules, internal and external audit requirements, licenses, accreditations, and Local Authority regulations.
- Provide QSHE management and governance to ensure continued compliance with ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015, and ISO 45001:2018 standards.
- Ensure the maintenance of Healthcare QMS Tier 1 requirements for Air & Sea Gauteng Park and the DSV Cold Facility, in alignment with the Senior Quality Lead role and responsibilities.
- Drive and support leadership involvement and active participation in achieving QSHE and Healthcare QMS objectives.
- Continuously identify opportunities for improvement within the QSHE and Healthcare QMS systems and support the facilitation of continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure monthly HSE statistics are accurately maintained, reported, and retained, including timely, professional, and thorough incident reporting, training, support, and trend analysis.
- Ensure ongoing compliance with applicable local legislation and statutory requirements governing all operational and environmental aspects of the business units.
- Compile, implement, and maintain comprehensive risk assessments for DSV Parks, including exterior and shared areas.
- Develop, implement, maintain, and regularly test Emergency Preparedness and Response Procedures for DSV Parks.
- Maintain document control for shared facility QSHE documentation in accordance with DSV requirements.
- Support incident and accident investigations where required and ensure corrective actions are implemented and monitored.
- Oversee compliance with QSHE systems, legal requirements, and other obligations at major DSV shared facilities (Cape Town, Durban, and Johannesburg).
- Conduct quarterly site inspections and ensure non-conformances are reported, tracked, and escalated to the relevant business units.
- Support the Sustainability function by initiating and managing sustainability initiatives and reporting progress at quarterly sustainability meetings.
- Plan, coordinate, execute, and report on QSHE, Healthcare QMS, regulatory, supplier, and customer audits.
- Ensure operations are compliant with client contracts, service level agreements (SLAs), supplier agreements, and local authority legal requirements, and support the business with RFQs, customer questionnaires, and similar commercial documentation.
- Manage waste in alignment with environmental targets by driving continual improvement initiatives focused on reducing, reusing, and recycling, and ensuring all recycling activities are compliant and accurately reported.
- Contractor Management: Ensure all contractors are approved DSV preferred providers, comply with SHE requirements (valid licenses, accreditations, processes, trained personnel, and suitable equipment), maintain compliant safety files, and are monitored and audited while on-site to ensure continuous adherence to SHE standards.

- Training: Ensure that all relevant parties receive appropriate training from accredited providers and that licenses and certifications are renewed timeously to prevent lapses.
- Problem Solving: Conduct effective root cause analysis, trend analysis, and problem-solving activities, and implement corrective and preventative actions.
- Stress and Conflict: Apply effective techniques to manage conflict, cope with stress, and work under pressure to meet deadlines.
- Supervision: Perform all supervisory functions independently and effectively, including planning, organising, leading, controlling, and monitoring.
- Communication: Communicate clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing, to successfully manage internal and external stakeholder expectations.
