SUMMARY

The Senior Sourcing Team Lead is responsible for leading strategic sourcing activities and supporting the development and execution of regional sourcing strategies across assigned suppliers, commodities, customer programs, and operational sites. This role serves as a senior sourcing resource within the organization and region, providing strategic direction, mentorship, escalation support, and cross-functional leadership while driving sourcing performance, supplier optimization, and continuous improvement initiatives.

 

This position plays a critical role in advancing sourcing maturity by aligning sourcing execution with broader business objectives, customer requirements, and evolving category management strategies. The Senior Sourcing Team Lead partners closely with Operations, Inventory Planning, Finance, Engineering, Customer Service, and regional leadership teams to improve supplier performance, mitigate supply risk, optimize total cost, and support operational scalability.

 

The Senior Sourcing Team Lead also serves as a coach and mentor to Sourcing Specialists, Purchasing personnel, and junior sourcing team members, helping elevate sourcing capabilities, improve consistency of execution, and reinforce best practices across the region.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Strategic Sourcing & Category Leadership

  • Leads development and execution of sourcing strategies within the assigned region, covering commodities, suppliers, client programs, and site-level operations.
  • Supports the evolution of category management capabilities through supplier segmentation, spend analysis, sourcing roadmaps, and strategic supplier development initiatives.
  • Identifies and drives opportunities for cost reduction, supplier consolidation, value engineering initiatives, and operational efficiency improvements.
  • Analyzes market trends, supplier capabilities, and cost drivers to inform sourcing decisions and longer-term strategy development.
  • Supports sourcing standardization efforts across sites and regions to improve scalability, consistency, and compliance.
  • Partners with sourcing leadership to align sourcing initiatives with business growth objectives, operational priorities, and customer expectations.

 

 

Supplier Management & Strategic Partnerships

  • Leads complex RFQ/RFP activities, supplier negotiations, bid evaluations, and sourcing recommendation development.
  • Establishes and maintains strategic supplier relationships within the assigned region to support quality, delivery, cost, and service objectives.
  • Leads supplier performance management activities, including supplier reviews, scorecards, corrective actions, and risk mitigation efforts.
  • Serves as the regional escalation point for critical supplier, sourcing, and material availability issues.
  • Oversees supplier onboarding, qualification, and performance management activities in alignment with company processes and SLAs.
  • Collaborates with suppliers to identify innovation opportunities, process improvements, and long-term value creation initiatives.

 

Regional Leadership & Team Development

  • Provides functional leadership, mentorship, and coaching to Sourcing Specialists, Purchasing personnel, and junior sourcing team members.
  • Supports onboarding and development of new team members, including training on sourcing processes, systems, supplier management, and best practices.
  • Assists with workload coordination, prioritization, and escalation management across regional sourcing activities.
  • Reviews work output and provides guidance to improve quality, consistency, accuracy, and execution effectiveness.
  • Helps foster a collaborative, accountable, and continuous improvement-oriented team environment.
  • May lead small project teams or regional sourcing initiatives.

 

Operational Support & Continuous Improvement

  • Leads and supports sourcing-related process improvement initiatives focused on efficiency, standardization, automation, and scalability.
  • Drives continuous improvement of sourcing workflows, supplier engagement processes, and sourcing governance practices.
  • Supports sourcing transformation initiatives, including ERP, Procure-to-Pay, and sourcing system enhancements.
  • Coordinates sourcing support for new program launches, customer implementations, supplier transitions, and operational changes.
  • Identifies sourcing risks and develops mitigation strategies related to continuity of supply, supplier performance, and operational disruption.

 

Data, Reporting & Analytics

  • Conducts spend analysis, sourcing analytics, cost modeling, and supplier evaluations to support sourcing decisions and performance improvement initiatives.
  • Develops and tracks regional KPIs related to supplier performance, sourcing effectiveness, cost savings, and operational support.
  • Ensures accuracy and integrity of sourcing-related supplier, pricing, and part data within ERP and sourcing systems.
  • Prepares regional and global reports, presentations, and sourcing summaries for leadership, customers, and internal stakeholders.

 

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Customer Support

  • Partners closely with Operations, Planning, Finance, Engineering, Customer Service, regional leadership, and other stakeholders to align sourcing activities with operational and customer requirements.
  • Acts as a liaison between sourcing and internal business teams to ensure alignment on priorities, timelines, and execution.
  • Interfaces directly with customers, suppliers, and operational stakeholders to support sourcing initiatives, issue resolution, and project execution.
  • Supports strategic growth initiatives by providing sourcing expertise, supplier insights, market intelligence, and cost analysis.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Direct management of sourcing agents
  • Provides regional functional leadership, coaching, mentorship, and guidance to sourcing and purchasing personnel.
  • May support performance feedback, onboarding, training coordination, and workload prioritization activities.

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

 

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain, Business, Operations, or related discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • Seven (7) or more years of progressive experience in sourcing, procurement, supply chain, or related operational functions.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a senior, lead, or mentoring capacity within sourcing, procurement, or supply chain operations.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • Professional certifications such as CPSM, CPM, CIPS, APICS, or equivalent.
  • Experience supporting category management or strategic sourcing transformation initiatives.
  • Experience within manufacturing, logistics, distribution, semiconductor, technology, or industrial service environments.
  • Experience supporting regional or multi-site sourcing operations.

 

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES

 

  • Advanced knowledge of strategic sourcing, supplier management, RFQ/RFP execution, negotiation, and sourcing governance practices.
  • Strong analytical and financial acumen, including spend analysis, cost modeling, and sourcing analytics.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead sourcing initiatives and influence cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and mentorship capabilities.
  • Ability to balance strategic initiatives with operational execution and issue resolution.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and relationship management skills across all organizational levels.
  • Proven ability to lead process improvements and drive operational efficiencies.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities with the ability to operate effectively through ambiguity and change.

 

Computer Skills

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and reporting/analytics tools.
  • Experience with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, Priority) and Procure-to-Pay platforms (Coupa or similar).

Language Skills

English (verbal, reading, writing)- High Level
