Summary

The DSV Road Planner will be responsible for efficiently planning and coordinating the movement of goods by road, ensuring on-time deliveries, and optimizing the use of our fleet and resources. Your role is critical in maintaining customer satisfaction, reducing operational costs, and achieving our transportation goals.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Plan and optimize trucking routes to ensure efficient use of resources, minimize fuel consumption, and meet delivery deadlines.
  • Create and manage daily, weekly, and monthly schedules for drivers and vehicles, taking into account driver hours of service regulations, and customer requirements.
  • Coordinate the allocation of cargo to trucks, considering weight distribution, cargo compatibility, and delivery deadlines.
  • Maintain open and professional communication with drivers, customers, and other team members to ensure seamless operations and address any issues or delays promptly.
  • Monitor the real-time progress of shipments using GPS and tracking systems, making adjustments as needed to avoid delays.
  • Ensure that all necessary paperwork, including BOLs, Manifest, and customs documentation, is accurate and complete.
  • Stay up to date on transportation regulations, safety guidelines, and environmental standards, and ensure full compliance with all relevant laws.
  • Monitor and control transportation costs, seeking opportunities for cost reduction without compromising service quality.
  • Identify and resolve logistical challenges and unexpected issues that may arise during transportation, such as traffic delays or vehicle breakdowns.
  • Analyze transportation data to evaluate the efficiency and performance of routes, drivers, and equipment, and implement improvements as needed.
  • Generate Ad-Hoc reports as needed

 

 

Educational background / Work experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent; A bachelor’s degree in logistics or a related field is preferred
  • Proven experience in transportation planning and logistics, preferably in trucking industry.

 

 

Language skills

  • English is the principal language for this position.  This position requires good written and verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively in a diverse multicultural environment.

 

Computer Literacy

  • Proficiency in transportation management software and route optimization tools.
  • Basic proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint, and other technical software is preferred.

 

Other Skills / Knowledge

  • Knowledge of DOT and FMCSA Regulations
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to details
  • Highly Analytical
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Strong Problem-Solving skills

 

Physical and/or Mental Requirements / Working Conditions

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand.  The employee is often required to walk and use hand and eye coordination.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. 

 

WORK HOURS AND ENVIRONMENT

Normal working hours for this position are Monday – Friday from 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM, however, working beyond these hours will often be required by business needs.

For this position, the expected base pay is: $62,000- $84,000/ Annual.  Actual base compensation will be determined based on various factors including job-related knowledge, geographical location, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations.
