POSITION SUMMARY
The Safety Coordinator, plays a crucial role in ensuring DSV's operational excellence by maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and regulatory compliance. This position is responsible for conducting internal audits, enforcing company-wide safety protocols, and serving as a key resource for continuous improvement initiatives across all logistics and transport functions. This individual will work to mitigate risks, prevent incidents, and foster a strong culture of safety.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct and Enforce Audits: Perform scheduled and unscheduled internal audits on operational processes, safety procedures, and regulatory compliance (e.g., OSHA, FMCSA, DOT).
- Compliance Management: Ensure all site-specific and global DSV safety standards and procedures are documented, implemented, and strictly followed.
- Incident and Risk Analysis: Assist in the investigation of safety incidents, near-misses, and non-compliance issues to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
- Safety Training: Develop and deliver safety training programs for new and existing employees, ensuring they are knowledgeable about current safety protocols, emergency procedures, and hazardous material handling.
- Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs): Collaborate with operational teams to create, update, and maintain comprehensive Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) that align with safety and quality standards.
- Data and Reporting: Accurately document all audit findings, incident reports, and corrective actions. Prepare and present detailed reports to management on key safety metrics and compliance status.
- Continuous Improvement: Participate in cross-functional projects aimed at enhancing safety performance, improving workflow efficiency, and reducing operational risks.
- Inventory Auditing: Conduct safety and compliance audits during inventory counts and other warehouse-related activities to ensure adherence to safety protocols.
- New Account Onboarding: Assist in the start-up process for new clients or facilities, ensuring all safety and quality standards are established from the outset.
SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Experience: At least two years of experience in a safety, quality, or compliance role, preferably within the logistics, warehousing, or transportation industry.
- Education: Associate's degree or equivalent professional certification (e.g., OSHA 30-hour) required. Bachelor's degree in a related field is a plus.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, with strong data analysis skills in Excel. Experience with safety management software (SMS) or audit-specific platforms is highly desirable.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. The ability to prepare clear, concise technical reports and effectively present complex information to diverse groups of employees and stakeholders is essential.
- Analytical Skills: Strong ability to read, interpret, and apply detailed regulatory documents and company policies.
- Physical Demands: Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, navigate warehouse environments, and perform duties in various physical conditions.
- Flexibility: Ability to work flexible hours, including overtime, secondary shifts, or holidays as needed to support 24/7 operations.

The employee uses computer and telephone equipment. Specific vision requirements of this job include close vision and distance vision. Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs. while following proper lifting procedures. Must be able to stand on feet for up to 8 hours per day.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee rarely is exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.
