POSITION SUMMARY
The Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) Coordinator position is responsible for engaging a culture of safety throughout our campus by educating and influencing leaders to enhance safety as part of the normal course of business. Provide management support in the planning, development, delivering and evaluation of safety policies, programs and training; promote safety for all employees and compliance with legal regulations and department policies. Ensure compliance with all Federal and State OSHA rules and regulations and provide training, instruction and guidance in these areas. Oversee accident investigations and is also responsible for overseeing all record keeping that is performed after the investigation has concluded. Maintain awareness of current and emerging regulatory requirements and ensure that systems, programs, recordkeeping and reporting procedures comply with requirements. Must also have strong organizational and communication skills, and a keen ability to develop and implement processes.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Plan, design, develop, implement, and evaluate departmental occupational safety programs.

Develop and conduct occupational safety training for all employees, including evaluation and modification of programs to meet state and federal OSHA requirements.

Develop and provide safety training. Identifies training needs; develop courses and address needs to facilitate accident and loss prevention, and to meet federal and state requirements. Identify which employees should receive the various training programs.

Maintain all HSE training records and notify Managers of training requirements and or deficiencies.

Schedule training as needed to keep all employees compliant with safety standards.

Ensure all employees have completed all mandated required safety training.

Coordinate scheduling of employees to attend training (or to complete training), as required to ensure a safe, healthy and incident-free workplace.

Conduct and facilitate monthly safety meetings.
-
Maintain accident statistics, analyze trends and propose and take remedial action where necessary.

Investigate or arrange for all accidents and near-misses be investigated, prepare report of finds, including recommendations to prevent recurrence and implement approved course of action. Where necessary prepare reports to the enforcing authority and DSV Corporate Safety Department as required.

Liaise with DSV Corporate Safety and the third-party administrator on all workers compensation claims, including managing appeals where appropriate

Effectively manage return to work programs, working closely with the employee, his/her supervisors DSV Corporate Safety, and the third-party administrator to ensure the employee's safety and health

Conduct on-site observations on a regular basis in order to identify potential hazards.

Perform job site safety compliance inspections including hazard analysis, safe work procedures, written reports and recommendations.

Responsible for maintaining compliance with all local, state, federal, and OSHA regulations and requirements regarding safety practices.

Work closely and effectively with supervisors and managers to ensure employee compliance with HSE Policies and Procedures.

Responsible for monitoring adherence to the company safety program by all DSV Solutions employees and subcontractors.

Provide advice and counsel to management and employees on a broad range of occupational health and safety issues and decisions.

Ensure appropriate first-aid supplies are maintained and ordered, as required

Implement effective systems to comply with all applicable HSE laws and regulations. This includes knowing all applicable legal requirements, having a process to meet each requirement, and having adequate data that demonstrates compliant performance.

Communicate site HSE goals, action plans, and results to the organization. Implement an effective system to drive positive HSE results, update HSE KPI scores and action plans regularly, and issue all required HSE data on time and accurately and maintain an up to date facility HSE performance profile.

Consult with DSV Corporate Safety and local leadership and give advice on formulating best-practice policies and procedures.

Keep staff and leadership abreast of any changes in HSE Legislation and changes in DSV Corporate HSE related processes.

Along with the Site GM and DSV Corporate Safety personnel serve as the DSV representative for OSHA, EPA, DOT, DHS or other State and Federal regulatory agencies and address any issues that may arise on a site level.

Ensure the implementation of the Emergency Management System (EMS) procedures and monitor its effectiveness by undertaking fire evacuation and severe weather drills at the facility at least once a year.

Responsible for OSHA recordkeeping, reporting and maintenance of required programs and training.

SKILLS & ABILITIES
Education & Experience:
• High school diploma or equivalent
• One to two years related experience and/or training directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
• Prior experience in safety observations/inspections, developing and implementing compliance strategies and plans.
• Knowledge of OSHA and other federal safety standards, principles, practices and techniques.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Interpersonal skills necessary to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, other business areas.
• Working knowledge of computerized applications (word processing, spreadsheet, database, presentation software, email)., Focusing on Details)
• Willing to work different shifts as dictated by business needs.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Professional accreditation in a safety or environmental field.
• Experience effectively leading and facilitating team and cross-functional meetings
• Bilingual (English/Spanish)
Other Physical Requirements
While performing the duties of this job, the employee uses his/her hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, or crouch; talk or hear. The employee uses computer and telephone equipment. Specific vision requirements of this job include close vision and distance vision. Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs. while following proper lifting procedures. Must be able to stand on feet for up to 8 hours per day.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, the employee rarely is exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.
