Reporting to Senior Vice Presented with a dotted line to the Global Director of HSSE, Quality & Compliance, the role translates the global Health & Safety strategy, management system and customer requirements into consistent and effective regional execution, while ensuring compliance with applicable federal, state, provincial and local legislation.

The role leads, manages and develops the regional Health & Safety team, including Regional Safety Managers, establishing clear accountabilities, performance expectations and consistent ways of working across countries, sites and operational portfolios.

The position owns regional Health & Safety governance, performance monitoring, operational risk oversight, incident escalation, investigation assurance, audit and corrective-action effectiveness. It provides authoritative leadership to regional and site operations, challenges unsafe practices, escalates material risks and ensures appropriate controls are implemented.

As the senior regional Health & Safety representative, the role works closely with regional business leadership, site management, the Global Director of HSSE, Quality & Compliance and customer Health & Safety leadership to maintain regulatory compliance, meet contractual requirements, strengthen safety culture and deliver measurable, sustained improvements in operational safety performance.

Key Responsibilities

A. Regional Strategy, Leadership and Governance

  • Set clear expectations for regional and site teams and verify consistent execution across countries, sites and operational portfolios
  • Advise and challenge Regional Directors, Site General Managers and operational leaders on material risks, compliance gaps and safety performance
  • Represent NASA in global Health & Safety governance and represent the regional function in customer and business reviews as required
  • Escalate significant risks, serious incidents, repeated control failures and unresolved compliance issues promptly to the Global Head of Safety

B. Regional Team Leadership and Capability

  • Directly manage, lead, coach and develop Regional Safety Managers, setting objectives, responsibilities, priorities and performance expectations
  • Conduct regular one-to-ones, performance reviews and regional team meetings; monitor delivery against agreed objectives and address underperformance
  • Define and maintain clear geographical, site and operational portfolios for regional team members, avoiding gaps or duplication in coverage
  • Assess team capability, competency, capacity and resource requirements; develop and implement plans to address identified gaps
  • Lead recruitment, onboarding, talent development and succession planning for the regional Health & Safety function in partnership with P&O
  • Build a consistent regional team culture that encourages collaboration, accountability, professional challenge and sharing of best practice
  • Ensure regional and site-level Health & Safety roles have appropriate competence, authority and access to relevant training and resources

C. Health & Safety Management and Operational Risk

  • Ensure effective implementation of DSV Health & Safety policies, standards, procedures and programmes across all in-scope operations
  • Oversee regional risk assessment processes and verify that site-level assessments are suitable, current and reviewed following material changes or incidents
  • Lead risk-based improvement initiatives using the hierarchy of controls and verify that critical controls are implemented and effective
  • Review risks associated with new business, new site launches, operational changes, increased workload, new equipment and changes to staffing or processes
  • Ensure pre-start-up safety reviews and operational readiness assessments are completed before new or materially changed operations commence, as applicable
  • Oversee risk controls for material handling equipment, pedestrian and vehicle segregation, dock safety, lifting and movement of heavy equipment or server racks, contractor activities, permit-to-work interfaces and other high-risk tasks relevant to the operation
  • Conduct and oversee risk-based site visits to verify implementation and effectiveness of controls, and ensure findings are addressed
  • Promote proactive hazard identification, safety observations, near-miss reporting, behavioural safety, safety campaigns and employee engagement

D. Incident Management, Investigation and Escalation

  • Maintain regional oversight of incident classification, notification, investigation, root cause analysis, corrective actions and lessons learned
  • Lead or oversee significant and high-potential incident investigations, ensuring appropriate participation from operations and relevant subject matter experts
  • Review investigation quality and verify that root causes are identified and corrective and preventive actions are proportionate, assigned, completed and effective
  • Monitor incident trends, repeat events and emerging risks; develop and track regional action plans to prevent recurrence
  • Ensure lessons learned are communicated to relevant sites, regional leadership, the Global Head of Safety and customers where required
  • Support regional response to serious incidents and emergencies, including accurate and timely executive and customer updates

  • Conduct or oversee Health & Safety audits, compliance reviews and management-system assessments across in-scope operations

  • Ensure onboarding and induction arrangements cover relevant DSV, customer, site and legal requirements
  • Coach regional and site leaders in risk management, incident learning, safety leadership and the application of global programs
  • Monitor training completion and competence assurance, addressing gaps and verifying effectiveness where appropriate
