Summary
The Senior Logistics Coordinator, Load Planning is responsible for supporting the efficient planning and execution of customer freight within DSV Road’s brokerage operations. This position manages order entry and load planning activities, translating customer orders and shipment requirements into executable transportation plans while maximizing equipment utilization, service performance, and operational efficiency.
The Senior Logistics Coordinator works closely with brokerage operations, carrier-facing teams, and other internal stakeholders to coordinate freight movement, identify planning constraints, and make timely adjustments based on changing operational needs. This role requires strong attention to detail, sound independent judgment, and the ability to balance customer requirements, capacity, cost, and operational considerations in a fast-paced transportation environment.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Receive, review, and enter customer transportation orders accurately and timely into applicable transportation management systems.
- Plan customer orders into loads based on shipment requirements, routing, equipment availability, capacity, delivery schedules, and operational priorities.
- Develop efficient load plans designed to maximize truck utilization while meeting customer service and delivery requirements.
- Evaluate freight characteristics, shipment volumes, pickup and delivery requirements, and available capacity when determining appropriate load configurations.
- Exercise independent judgment when making load planning decisions and adjusting plans based on operational conditions, capacity constraints, service requirements, or other changing circumstances.
- Coordinate with Brokerage Operations and carrier-facing teams to ensure planned loads are operationally executable and appropriately supported.
- Assist with truck and capacity planning by identifying freight requirements and communicating anticipated equipment needs.
- Monitor planned freight and proactively identify potential service, capacity, or scheduling issues requiring adjustment.
- Re-plan, consolidate, or modify freight plans as necessary to improve utilization, service performance, and operational efficiency.
- Maintain accurate shipment, routing, scheduling, and load information within transportation management systems.
- Communicate changes, exceptions, and planning requirements to appropriate internal stakeholders in a timely manner.
- Independently troubleshoot load planning conflicts, capacity constraints, and operational exceptions and escalate issues when appropriate.
- Ensure load plans align with customer-specific requirements, established operating procedures, and applicable transportation requirements.
- Identify opportunities to improve load utilization, planning processes, and overall operational efficiency.
- Maintain effective working relationships across brokerage, operations, carrier management, and customer-facing teams.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications & Experience
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Transportation, Business, or a related field preferred.
- 2+ years of experience in transportation, logistics, freight brokerage, load planning, dispatch, or a related operational environment preferred.
- Previous experience with load planning, freight consolidation, capacity planning, or transportation optimization preferred.
- Experience working within a transportation management system (TMS) or similar logistics platform preferred.
- Experience supporting high-volume or complex transportation operations preferred.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong understanding of transportation planning, freight movement, and load optimization principles.
- Ability to evaluate multiple operational factors and exercise independent judgment when making load planning decisions.
- Strong organizational and prioritization skills with the ability to manage multiple shipments and competing deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accurate order and shipment information.
- Ability to identify potential service or capacity issues and proactively develop solutions.
- Strong analytical, critical-thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively across operations, brokerage, carrier management, and customer-facing functions.
- Ability to adapt quickly to changing shipment requirements, capacity constraints, and operational priorities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and transportation management systems.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Physical Demands
This role is primarily performed in an office environment and requires the ability to sit or stand for extended periods while working at a desk and using a computer, telephone, and other standard office equipment. The employee must be able to use their hands frequently for typing, writing, and operating office equipment, along with close visual acuity for reading reports, screens, and documentation. Clear verbal and written communication is essential, including extended periods of time on the phone with customers, carriers, and team members. The role may occasionally require bending, reaching, or lifting office materials or supplies up to 15–20 lbs.
Work Environment
The position is performed in a professional office environment and requires frequent use of computers, transportation management systems, telephones, and other standard office equipment. The role operates in a fast-paced transportation environment where priorities, customer requirements, and shipment needs may change throughout the day.

For this position, the expected base pay range is $75,000.00 – $90,000.00 Annual. Actual compensation will be determined based on job-related factors such as relevant experience, skills, education, certifications, and geographic location, in accordance with applicable laws and company policy.
