The Safety Coordinator is responsible for keeping track of required safety plans, audits, and training requirements and strives to ensure that plans and inspections are completed and up-to-date. The Safety Coordinator may enlist the assistance of other staff to complete these activities. This position is expected to uphold and comply with all regulatory, corporate and site-specific policies, procedures, and safety rules.



  • Practice safe working techniques and re-enforce the safety policies, guidelines, and procedures as set out by the Company and the Client.
  • Provide daily guidance and direction in HSE programs at the employee / supervisor level to ensure a common and effective approach;
  • Responsible for assisting in the identification of possible losses; evaluating the risk in such loss exposure; developing and implementing a plan to correct or prevent a loss and audit the plan to ensure its effectiveness.
  • Ensure that contractor personnel working on the property follow DSV policies and safety requirements.
  • Maintain and update as needed SOP’s for all safe work practices and equipment and utilize them in the day-to-day training.
  • Provide advice, assist, and audit line management to ensure that effective HSE is implemented and working.
  • Perform and contribute to the Site Training Plans by conducting employee orientations; emergency response training; and coordination of modular training programs for the Operation.
  • Ensure inspections by regulatory agencies are coordinated and deficiencies minimized and corrected.
  • Coordinate with Site Supervisor, Operations, and General Manager on facility deficiencies and monthly safety inspections
  • Maintain all logs and documentation associated with permits and regulatory requirements;
  • Assist with maintaining the Site Preparedness and Emergency Plans & Procedures.
  • Review accidents and incidents which occur in responsibility and conduct audits, reporting and managing the corrective actions.
  • Maintain filing systems regarding worker training and safety;
  • Maintain working relationships with External Agencies and co-chair and help lead the Safety Team.
  • Manage Team Base Risk Assessments and the process and regularly conduct training needs analysis.



  • Other duties or responsibilities as requested by Management.



  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a medium to large warehouse with HSE management responsibilities
  • Prior experience in safety observations/inspections, developing and implementing compliance strategies and plans.
  • Knowledge of safety and health management systems and practices.
  • Bachelor’s Degree (Preferred)





Computer Skills

  • Strong computer skills are required;
  • Proficient use of MS Office Applications;
  • Preferred knowledge of WM systems: preferably SAP, WM4000, WM10 or Red Prairie. 

Language Skills

  • Bilingual (Preferred)

Mathematical Skills

  • Intermediate skills

Other Skills

  • Excellent training skills
  • Good communication, supervisory and people skills are essential
  • Strong project management and analytical skills and ability to pay attention to detail
