DSV Air & Sea  is seeking to hire a skilled and passionate Freight Forwarder, Import Sea in Melbourne.

 

This entry-level position supports the Import Sea team by managing day to day administrative tasks that are essential to efficient import operations. The role focuses on overseeing the shared Import mailbox, assisting in chasing Delivery Orders, and liaising with carriers, depots, and origin offices. This position is designed as a development pathway into a full Import Sea Transport Operator role. The successful candidate will progressively gain exposure to core operational tasks such as file management, transport coordination, milestone updates, and customer communication, under the guidance of senior operators.

 

Your typical day at DSV:

  • Manage the shared Import mailbox by actioning, flagging, or escalating emails promptly.
  • Support the team by following up on Delivery Orders with carriers, depots, and consolidators.
  • Liaise with carriers, shipping lines, and origin offices to obtain missing documents or shipment details.
  • File and organise key commercial documents such as HBL/MBL, invoices, packing lists, DOs, and release confirmations.
  • Update basic shipment data in the system under supervision and assist with transport bookings, DO processing, timeslot requests, and POD capture.
  • Help prepare pre-alerts, customer notifications, and support exception handling while learning internal QA and continuous improvement processes.

 

About you:

  • Strong organisational skills and ability to manage a shared mailbox effectively.
  • Good written communication and professional email etiquette. 
  • A proactive mindset with confidence in following up with carriers and origin partners.
  • High attention to detail and willingness to learn freight forwarding systems and processes.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment and escalate issues when needed.
  • Interest in developing into a full Import Sea Transport Operator.
