Team Lead, Accounts Payable
As an Accounts Payable Team Lead, you will be responsible for overseeing daily AP operations within our North America Shared Services function. You will ensure accurate and timely invoice and payment processing, compliance with internal controls and SLAs, and effective vendor management. The role also includes leading and supporting the AP team, coordinating workloads, resolving escalations, and driving continuous process improvements.
Tasks and Responsibilities

Oversee daily Accounts Payable operations, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance.

Review and analyze aging reports and reconcile the AP sub-ledger with the General Ledger.

Ensure invoices are properly documented, coded, approved, and processed for payment.

Process and review transactions including invoices, ACH payments, checks, and procurement/credit card activity.

Manage vendor inquiries and escalations, maintaining strong and professional vendor relationships.

Create, update, and maintain workflows and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Coordinate with Operations, Controllers, and other cross-functional teams, including during the monthly close process.

Monitor team workload, prioritize activities, and distribute assignments to meet SLAs.

Train, mentor, and support team members, providing guidance and feedback for their development.

Identify opportunities for process improvement, automation, and increased efficiency.

Support AP leadership with special projects and additional operational activities.
Education and Skills
-
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.

Strong knowledge of Accounts Payable processes and financial transactions.

Advanced Excel skills, including Pivot Tables and VLOOKUP.

SAP experience is a plus.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate discrepancies and identify root causes.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Strong leadership, organization, and coordination skills.

Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

High attention to detail and accuracy when handling financial information.

Strong customer service mindset, accountability, teamwork, and confidentiality.
Minimal Work Experience
-
5+ years of experience in Accounts Payable, including experience leading, coordinating, or supporting a team.

Experience in a Shared Services environment is preferred.

Experience working with vendors and internal stakeholders in a fast-paced environment.
