Position Summary
The Senior Claims Manager is a senior subject-matter expert responsible for ensuring the timely and commercial resolution of logistics and transportation claims. This role will oversee complex cargo, freight, transportation, and warehouse claims on behalf of DSVI across the Americas.
Based in Miami, Florida, this position will have a strong focus on supporting the Americas region with claims handling.
The ideal candidate brings 10+ years of progressive experience in claims, insurance, and logistics. Fluency in Spanish and Portuguese is a plus. So too is a law degree.
Key Responsibilities
Claims Management & Resolution
- Working with the business units and freight forwarders liability and cargo insurers to manage complex and high-value cargo claims, and see them through to resolution.
- Establish appropriate strategies for resolving claims disputes between DSV and its customers, its contractors, and across offices.
- Overseeing cargo claims across the full spectrum of multimodal transportation (air, ocean, road, rail, warehousing, and logistics services).
- Ensure cargo claims are investigated and resolved consistently, efficiently, and timely.
- Partner with Senior Director and legal counsel (internal and external) on litigation, arbitration, mediation, and other disputes when appropriate.
- Review and interpret bills of lading, transportation contracts, logistics agreements, insurance policies, terms and conditions, and other relevant documentation to streamline cargo claims handling.
Insurance & Risk Management
- Serve as a senior resource to the business and DSV Insurance.
- Partner with Senior Director and insurance carriers to pursue recoveries, subrogation, and minimize company losses.
- Analyze claims trends and recommend appropriate risk mitigation strategies.
Legal & Regulatory Expertise
- Apply knowledge of transportation and commercial law to claims involving domestic and international logistics.
- Monitor relevant legal, regulatory, and contractual developments affecting transportation liability and claims.
- Provide guidance to the business regarding contractual risk, liability exposure, claims practices, and dispute resolution.
- Assist with developing and maintaining claims procedures, guidelines, and standard operating practices.
Leadership & Stakeholder Management
- Provide guidance and coaching to regional teams when necessary.
- Establish consistent claims management standards across the Americas while supporting global alignment.
- Represent the company professionally in sensitive customer and third-party matters.
- Serve as a resource for DSV Insurance in NORAM/LATAM, specifically with respect to cargo claims.
- Must perform duties in accordance with DSV’s values: deliver results, push transparency, take ownership, and work with colleagues to win together.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of progressive experience in claims management, transportation/logistics, insurance, commercial litigation, risk management, or a closely related field.
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) or equivalent law degree is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of transportation, logistics, cargo liability, insurance, and commercial law.
- Experience managing complex and high-value claims in a multinational or global environment.
- Experience with multimodal transportation, preferably including air, ocean, road, rail, and warehousing.
- Fluency in Spanish and Portuguese is preferred. Fluency in English is mandatory.
- Demonstrated experience negotiating complex claims and resolving disputes.
- Experience working with insurance carriers, brokers, outside counsel, and internal legal teams.
- Strong understanding of contractual risk allocation and liability provisions.
- Excellent analytical, investigative, negotiation, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to interpret complex contracts, insurance policies, legal documents, and regulatory requirements.
- Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, highly matrixed global organization.

Working Environment
This is a highly collaborative, internationally focused role based in Miami, Florida, with regular interaction with colleagues, customers, insurers, legal professionals, and business leaders across the Americas and globally. The role requires the ability to manage multiple high-priority matters simultaneously and exercise sound judgment when dealing with sensitive, confidential, and financially significant issues.

- Reduce financial exposure and cargo claims-related losses.
- Resolve complex cargo claims efficiently and strategically.
- Improve cargo claims recovery and subrogation results.
- Strengthen consistency and governance across the cargo claims organization.
- Identify and reduce recurring operational causes of claims.
- Provide high-quality legal and commercial guidance to business leaders.
- Build strong relationships with customers and insurance partners.
- Establish the claims function as a proactive risk management and business partner, rather than solely a reactive claims-processing function.
For this position, the expected base pay range is $140,000.00 - $160,000.00 annually. Actual compensation will be determined based on job-related factors such as relevant experience, skills, education, certifications, and geographic location, in accordance with applicable laws and company policy.
