SUMMARY
The Pricing Analyst – Projects, is responsible for developing competitive, accurate, and commercially viable pricing solutions for complex transportation requirements, with a particular focus on project cargo, out-of-gauge (OOG), oversized, heavy-lift, and specialized shipments.
The role works closely with customers, sales, operations, carriers, agents, and other internal stakeholders to understand transportation requirements and develop end-to-end pricing solutions across airfreight, ocean freight, road transportation, and other multimodal services.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Pricing & Quotation
- Develop and prepare competitive pricing proposals and quotations for domestic and international transportation requirements.
- Manage pricing requests for project cargo, out-of-gauge, oversized, heavy-lift, and specialized shipments.
- Evaluate customer requirements and determine the most appropriate transportation mode, routing, service level, and carrier options.
- Obtain and negotiate rates with airlines, ocean carriers, trucking companies, rail providers, terminals, agents, and other service providers.
- Build comprehensive door-to-door pricing solutions, including applicable origin, destination, transportation, handling, customs, fuel, accessorial, and other charges.
- Analyze carrier and supplier rates to identify the most cost-effective and operationally viable solutions.
- Ensure pricing is accurate, commercially competitive, and aligned with company margin requirements.
- Prepare detailed pricing breakdowns and commercial proposals for customers and sales teams.
- Review and validate pricing received from internal and external sources.
- Maintain current rate information, tariffs, surcharges, and supplier pricing within applicable systems and databases.
Project & Out-of-Gauge Cargo
- Support pricing for complex project shipments involving oversized, overweight, over-dimensional, or out-of-gauge cargo.
- Review cargo specifications, including dimensions, weights, commodity, equipment requirements, loading requirements, and origin/destination restrictions.
- Work with operations and project teams to develop transportation solutions for challenging or non-standard cargo.
- Obtain specialized equipment and handling rates, including flat racks, open-top containers, lowboys, step decks, heavy-haul equipment, cranes, escorts, and other specialized services as required.
- Coordinate pricing requirements across multiple transportation modes and geographic locations.
- Identify potential operational constraints and pricing risks before quotations are submitted.
- Assist with the development of project budgets and cost estimates for complex transportation movements.
- Support tenders, RFQs, RFPs, and large-scale project bids.
Multimodal Transportation
- Develop pricing solutions utilizing air, ocean, road, rail, and multimodal transportation.
- Evaluate different transportation options based on cost, transit time, cargo characteristics, service requirements, and customer expectations.
- Develop alternative routing and transportation options where appropriate.
- Understand the interdependencies between different modes and the associated costs and operational requirements.
- Collaborate with regional and global teams to obtain rates and develop international transportation solutions.
Commercial & Business Support
- Partner with Sales and Business Development teams to support new business opportunities and customer retention.
- Provide pricing guidance and recommendations to sales teams for complex customer requirements.
- Participate in customer calls and meetings where pricing or transportation solutions require specialist expertise.
- Identify opportunities to improve profitability while maintaining competitive market positioning.
- Monitor market conditions, carrier pricing, capacity, fuel costs, and other factors that may impact transportation pricing.
- Support strategic pricing initiatives and identify opportunities for improved procurement and supplier relationships.
- Maintain strong relationships with carriers, vendors, agents, and other transportation partners.
Data, Systems & Administration
- Maintain accurate pricing records, rate tables, and supplier information.
- Ensure all quotations and pricing documentation are complete, accurate, and issued within agreed timelines.
- Track quotation activity, win/loss information, margins, and other relevant pricing metrics.
- Assist with pricing analysis and reporting to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement.
- Ensure compliance with company pricing procedures, approval processes, and commercial policies.
- Maintain appropriate documentation and audit trails for pricing and quotation activity.
Quality, Health & Safety:
- Supports organizational commitment to ISO 9001, ISO 45001 certification – Montreal location
- Perform assigned tasks to support DSV meets its objectives and targets regarding quality, health, safety and environment and follow all requirements as set out in the DSV Quality Health Safety Environment policy.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
- Minimum of three (3) years international transportation industry experience or,
- Education in supply chain logistics, international transportation, or a related field of study
- Relevant industry certifications considered an asset (i.e. CIFFA, APICS)
- Demonstrated experience in pricing, quotations, procurement, or commercial transportation activities.
- Experience working with project cargo, out-of-gauge, oversized, heavy-lift, or specialized transportation is strongly preferred.
- Experience preparing complex, multi-leg transportation quotations.
- Experience with RFQs, RFPs, tenders, and project pricing is an asset.

Language and Computer Skills
- English is the principal language for this position, additional languages may be required in other locations.

Physical Demands
- Prolonged periods sitting and standing at a desk and working on a computer
- Regular working hours apply for this position, at times, working beyond these hours may be required by business needs.
