Road Freight Operator (Freight Forwarder)

DSV is recruiting a Road Freight Operator to join our Transport team in Naas. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast‑paced logistics environment and enjoys coordinating transport solutions that deliver for customers every time. The successful applicant will take ownership of road freight movements from booking through to final delivery, ensuring cargo is transported safely, efficiently and in line with service commitments, quality standards and regulatory requirements. You’ll play a key role in the day‑to‑day success of our transport operations and contribute to strong customer relationships.

What will you be doing?

•    Manage and monitor road freight movements, ensuring full visibility and control throughout the transport cycle
•    Proactively communicate with customers, internal customer service teams and DSV offices across Ireland and internationally
•    Coordinate hauliers, shipping lines and agents to meet customer and operational requirements
•    Book trailers and drivers using online shipping platforms
•    Negotiate transport rates where required and provide accurate, competitive quotations
•    Prepare and process transport and shipping documentation
•    Handle operational administration including invoicing, cost checks, claims, queries and filing
•    Resolve day-to-day transport issues quickly and effectively
•    Ensure all activities comply with company procedures, SLAs, SOPs and industry regulations
•    Manage costs in line with budget targets while supporting revenue and profit objectives

About You

•    Previous experience in a freight forwarding or transport environment is an advantage
•    Strong organisational and planning skills with the ability to solve problems proactively
•    Confident communicator with excellent customer service and telephone skills
•    Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities and perform well under pressure
•    Experience handling administrative tasks accurately and efficiently
•    Good IT skills, particularly in Microsoft Excel and Word
