DSV Air & Sea is seeking to hire a skilled and passionate Manager, Sea Freight in Port of Brisbane.
The Seafreight Manager is responsible for the overall business and financial operation of all seafreight files for the branch. As well as leading a team of seafreight operators the position will have responsibility for achieving and reporting on KPI’s. This role is critical in maintaining department costs, optimizing departmental productivity, and supporting the Branch Manager where required.
Your typical day at DSV:
- Lead, develop, and engage the Seafreight team, setting clear performance expectations, driving accountability, and building future leadership capability through coaching and succession planning.
- Oversee end‑to‑end import and export seafreight operations, ensuring compliance with DSV Blueprints, customs regulations, QHSE standards, and customer SLAs.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients and suppliers, acting as an escalation point for service issues and partnering with sales on growth opportunities, tenders, and RFQs.
- Monitor operational performance and KPIs, identifying risks and implementing process improvements to optimise productivity, service quality, and cost control.
- Manage the department’s financial performance, preventing revenue leakage, improving cost accuracy, analysing profitability, and providing regular performance and financial reporting.
- Promote a strong QHSE culture, ensuring safety, compliance, risk management, and environmental responsibility are embedded across all seafreight operations.
About you:
- Minimum 5–7 years’ experience in international freight forwarding, with at least 3 years in a leadership role within seafreight operations.
- Proven capability to lead, motivate, and develop high‑performing teams in a fast‑paced, operational environment.
- Strong knowledge of international shipping practices, customs requirements, compliance obligations, and industry regulations.
- Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and negotiation skills, with demonstrated success in building and retaining key client relationships.
- Strong commercial and financial acumen, with the ability to analyse performance, manage costs, and drive profitable growth.
- A resilient, strategic leader with a customer‑first mindset, high attention to detail, and a continuous improvement approach.
