Tertiary Qualification(s):

Supply Chain & Logistics/Business Management or Industrial Engineering Diploma/Degree or relevant experience in the industry (equivalent to a qualification) – Advantage

 

Computer Literacy Level MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook – Intermediate:

Experience on a Warehouse Management Systems (WMS)

 

Job-related Requirements:

• Operations:

o Proven experience in production logistics.

• Problem Solving:

o Must be able to conduct and close out an investigation to inventory stock variances and implement corrective and preventative measures.

• Supervisory Management:

o Minimum of 3 years’ experience in supervising or leading a team preferably in a warehouse/production environment including performance management, absence management, identifying development requirements, ensuring accountability and ownership.

• Communication:

o Must be able to communicate effectively (written and verbal) in English to superiors and subordinates.

• Compliance:

o Exposure to compliance management.

• Commercial:

o Experience in managing service delivery to client as per SLA,

o A sound understanding of KPI’s, as well as compliance thereof.

• Other

o Candidate must have effective techniques and/or skills to manage

conflict, cope with stress and work effectively under constant

pressure;

o Must be able to work extended hours including weekends.

o Must have reliable transport.

o Must be able to work independently.

o Must have a high attention to detail.

o Must be an organized individual who is results driven

o Must be able to work effectively with supportive structures (IR,

Compliance, QSHE, HR etc)

Main Purpose:

This position aims to ensure service delivery to the client as per contract, managing a team of between 50 – 100 employees on a shift in an automotive production environment.

The role needs to ensure operations are managed in accordance with the DSV standard, policies and procedures. Ensure that the DSV strategy, goals and initiatives are understood and then cascaded down to their team.

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

Ford Operations:

• Accountability and leadership on their area of responsibility.

• Meeting of all relevant customer SLAs & KPI’s.

• Ensure implementation and daily adherence to all elements of the DSV Policies and Procedures, QSHE and Legislation, including the following: Guidelines, Work Instructions, Maintenance Schedules and site Safety Authority requirements.

• Actively managing daily operational performance to consistently achieve performance metric targets.

• Delivering on client and internal continuous improvement requirements and driving a Lean culture.

• Ensure communication forums are attended & held to ensure the effective flow of information.

• Address service delivery failures timeously and close the accountability loop by conducting relevant investigations and ensuring accountability and preventative measures are implemented.

• Ensure required operational readiness for various projects as communicated ie: including Launch activities, additional scope etc.

 

Client Relationships:

• Ensuring client’s needs and expectations are consistently met within scope of the SLA.

• Assist in achieving and explaining monthly KPI dashboard results and reporting, root cause analysis and corrective action implementation and tracking.

 

OTHER DUTIES

• Any other functions which the Branch Manager/ Business Area Manager/ Operations Director may require in terms of your area and scope of responsibility.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

People Management:

• Firm and consistent approach to ongoing performance measurements and management of team.

• Firm and consistent management of team in line with DSV Values, Policies and Procedures, NBCRFLI Main Agreement, BCEA and LRA.

• Ensure effective resourcing in all departments to deliver the expected services.

• Resolution of all IR issues in conjunction with HRM & IR Specialist timeously.

• Coaching and mentoring of team.

• IDP and succession plans in place for all critical roles.

• Drive training interventions to close skills gaps in operations.

• Develop and motivate direct team members.

• Ensure direct reports have a job description and understand what is expected from them.

• Ensure headcount and resources are in line with budget/approved headcount.

• Ensure all employee payroll and timekeeping information is actioned timeously for area of responsibility.

• Ensure relevant information & communication is cascaded to subordinates.

• Ensure direct reports are accountable for their outputs.
