Controlling Manager

DSV are recruiting for Controlling Manager in Purfleet. 

  • As the Controlling Manager for the DSV Road division, you will play a critical role in partnering with senior management to drive business performance and ensure financial integrity. 
  • We are seeking a candidate with a strong background in controlling and finance, who possesses excellent analytical skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office and SAP. Additionally, experience with financial analysis, budgeting, and business case preparation will be advantageous for success in this role.
  • You will be managing the team of financial controllers and work closely together with the accounting and tax teams, as well as controlling teams of other UK divisions and other countries of our region

  • Overseeing the financial reporting process.
  • Providing insights to management.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve profitability.
  • Drive the implementation of new reporting tools and processes

 

Duties / Responsibilities

  • Partner with Managing Director (MD) and Directors to analyse business performance, identify key drivers, and develop strategies to achieve financial objectives.
  • Serve as the key contact for Group Controlling, addressing queries and providing necessary information and support for the entity.
  • Ensure a smooth closing process by collaborating with Regional Shared Service Center (RSSC) Accounting and other stakeholders, to meet reporting deadlines and accuracy standards.
  • Review financial results before submission to SAP Enterprise Performance Management (EPM), discuss findings with local management, and highlight areas of concern or opportunity.
  • Analyze site results, productivity, and overheads to identify trends and opportunities for improvement, and propose actionable recommendations to enhance profitability.
  • Conduct balance sheet reviews in collaboration with accounting, identify risks and opportunities, and communicate significant items to RSSC Controlling and RSSC management for appropriate action.
  • Ensure adherence to financial processes and controls by both finance and operations teams, and perform regular reviews to verify compliance.
  • Oversee the implementation and maintenance of 29 key controls, ensuring effectiveness and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Lead the budgeting and forecasting process, working closely with stakeholders to develop accurate and achievable financial plans.
  • Prepare business cases for new initiatives or investments, evaluating financial feasibility and potential return on investment.

 

Skills and Competencies 

  • Over 5 years of experience in financial controlling, with a demonstrated track record of success in driving business performance and financial integrity.
  • Bachelor's degree in finance or a related field, with a strong accounting background preferred.
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office tools, including PowerPoint and Excel, for data analysis and reporting.
  • Experience with SAP or similar ERP systems, with the ability to extract and analyse financial data for decision-making purposes.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret financial information and provide actionable insights.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritise tasks in a fast-paced environment, while maintaining attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Knowledge of financial analysis techniques, budgeting processes, and business case development.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and professional development, staying updated on industry trends and best practices in financial controlling.
