DSV are recruiting for a Team Lead  - Inventory (Monday to Friday 14:00 – 22:00 – Raunds Depot)

The Inventory Team Leader is a crucial role within our 3PL operation, responsible for overseeing day-to-day inventory processes, ensuring accurate stock management, and leading a team to uphold the highest standards of stock accuracy, reporting, and compliance with client requirements. This position combines hands-on inventory management with effective team supervision, where you will ensure inventory counts are precise and all processes align with client expectations and standards.

In this fast-paced environment, you’ll supervise and support a team of inventory associates, manage stock movements, and maintain efficient inventory control to meet and exceed service level agreements. The role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to adopt a positive team culture. The Inventory Team Leader will drive operational excellence through continuous improvement initiatives, employee development, and a focus on client satisfaction, making a clear impact on our warehouse and logistics operations.

Duties / Responsibilities

 

  • Ensure that all inventory is accurately recorded, stored, and monitored, with a focus on minimizing discrepancies between physical stock and inventory records.
  • Conduct regular cycle counts and physical audits to verify stock levels and address variances.
  • Lead and manage a team of inventory associates, assigning tasks, monitoring performance, and providing training to enhance team capabilities.
  • instil a positive and productive work environment, encouraging teamwork and adherence to safety standards.
  • Identify opportunities for improving inventory processes and workflows, implementing changes to boost accuracy and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with supervisors and other departments to ensure seamless integration of inventory activities with overall warehouse operations.
  • Ensure that all inventory operations comply with client requirements and company policies.
  • Serve as a point of contact for inventory-related inquiries, working proactively to resolve issues and meet service level agreements (SLAs).
  • Generate and analyse reports on inventory accuracy, stock discrepancies, and team performance, providing insights for continuous improvement.
  • Work closely with management to set and achieve inventory related KPIs, such as accuracy rates, count frequency, and stock movement efficiency.
  • For stock takes you MUST be available on all 7 days. (Sun – Sat)  

 

 

 

People Management

  • Manage time and attendance for Inventory within area of responsibility and support supervisor with people management issues.
  • Communicate with staff on a regular basis to make them aware of priorities, targets, and operational requirements.
  • Comply with the Health, Safety and Environmental Policies
  • Engages interest and participation of others and has a collaborative approach to working with others.
  • Proactively contributes to the team and actively committed to teams’ development.
  • Take part in grievance and disciplinary hearings.
  • Monitor performance and absence and carry out return to works and conduct welfare meetings.

 

Experience

  • Team Leader skills with the ability to motivate, develop and supervise others.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Good IT skills, in particular spreadsheets and databases and a knowledge of warehouse systems
  • Analytical and numerical
  • Good understanding of customer deliverables and the impact of failure / cost of poor quality
  • Good planning skills and able to meet targets and deadlines.
  • Excellent attention to detail skills
  • Proficient in Red Prairie

 

Skills and Competencies

  • GCSEs Level A-C, NVQ Level 2,
  • An appropriate warehousing qualification would be advantageous.
  • Proven experience as a Inventory Team Leader with experience of supervising and motivating a team
  • A good working knowledge of health and safety and security requirements
  • Knowledge and understanding of lean techniques may be advantageous.
  • Fork Lift Truck licence may be required
