Facility Specialist, Dangerous Goods

Time Type: Full Time

The role will report to the Facility Specialist, Dangerous Goods as secondary point of contact for GMCCA and the International customers. Responsible for all Haz-Mat shipments the execution and freight forwarding oversight of International shipments from GM to the customer; resolving any issues that may arise in a timely manner, acting in accordance with government law and within international export compliance regulations.


Job Requirements

  • Inspection of hazmat freight that will be moving by various modes (air/ocean/ground) for International shipments.
  • The creation of Dangerous Goods shipper documents.
  • Resolution of DG shipment issues.
  • Strong organization skills and attention to details are essential in this position. Capability of handling copious amounts of information.
  • Ability to work independently, diligently, and think strategically to solve issues. Ability to adapt to change. 
  • This individual would have to go through and pass GM’s DG Compliance Training online to become certified.
  • Hazmat/Automotive Logistics and/or previous Traffic Office experience for a largescale Shipper



  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication and active listening skills
  • Communicates effectively and in a professional manner when dealing with customer
  • Uses critical and creative thinking to resolve problems
