Move forward as freight forwarder special services at DSV in Venlo
Ready to make a difference? For our clients. For your colleagues. But above all, for yourself? As a freight forwarder special services, you literally and figuratively push the boundaries. As the department's name suggests, you and your colleagues deal with special transport.

You get it done
Anything that can't go on a pallet or standard transport ends up with your team. Whether it's medical equipment, store fittings, or shipments to/from England; you’re on it.

How do you do this? As a freight forwarder specializing in special services, you are responsible for the fast and efficient handling of transport shipments to and from various countries within Europe. Any shipment to any country? The outbound journey is arranged, and to make this trip as profitable as possible, you ensure that the driver can also make some pick-ups on the way back. Additionally, you are able to build and maintain a network both internally and externally. You achieve this by:
•    planning shipments for own trailers and special shipments as efficiently as possible, with minimal mileage and maximum occupancy rate;
•    independently negotiating rate agreements and optimal transport combinations;
•    proactively communicating and informing customers and partners, as well as your drivers;
•    monitoring shipments and identifying irregularities regarding loading, unloading, and delivery. You're responsible from A to Z.

Your team stands out at DSV due to a mix of highly experienced and starting colleagues. Everyone helps each other and learns the tricks of the trade from one another. Job satisfaction is paramount. Laughter is certainly heard in the special services department.

We are DSV, we grow
DSV is a global provider of transport and logistics services. With offices in more than 80 countries and a growing network of partners, there is no place in the world we cannot reach via transport by air, sea, rail, courier or road or where we can offer storage in warehouses.

Your experience in transport planning fits perfectly here! We don't need to explain to you what a loading meter is or how many pallets fit in one trailer. But we do challenge you to make the impossible possible as a freight forwarder special services, says Frank Janssen, Senior Team Lead Special Services.

In the Netherlands, we operate from over 25 branches, with more than 3,000 colleagues. Together we rise to the challenge of a rapidly changing environment. We make quick decisions at every level and combine ambition and teamwork. This is how we move forward and make a difference together.

You bring
•    passion for the profession, supplemented by some experience in transport planning. Think of LTL/FTL, import and export, or special transport;
•    our drivers also travel to, for example, England on weekends; a few times a year, you need to be available for escalations during weekends. Naturally, there's an attractive compensation for this;
•    experience with customs processes for shipments to the UK. But even without customs experience, we're happy to teach you the tricks of the trade!
•    proficiency in both Dutch and English. If you also speak some German, that's a plus!

It all counts for this vacancy of freight forwarder special services in Venlo. Furthermore, it is of course important that you feel at home with us. That will certainly be possible if you like to keep going, have guts and want to grow with DSV.

You get
Working at DSV means working at one of the top players in the logistics market. DSV is entrepreneurial and competitive, which is why we always want to grow as an organization. That is why we are looking for people who want to grow with us. Besides a challenging job in an international environment we also offer:

•    a salary that we agree upon with you based on the knowledge and experience you bring;
•    28 days of annual leave and 8% holiday pay based on a full-time employment;
•    a 5% bonus paid out in November;
•    a favourable pension scheme, of which a part is premium-free and a contribution of 5% from your side;
•    working at a brand-new location, equipped with the most modern facilities like a 150 m2 gym. Additionally, you have access to knowledge and training via our DSV Academy. This way, you can grow and influence your career path.
