Move forward as Health & Safety Manager Europe at DSV

This position is open to candidates residing in Europe; the base location is flexible within Europe.

Make an impact on the safety and health of thousands of employees within DSV’s European logistics operations. In this strategic role, you will set the direction for the further professionalisation of Health & Safety and contribute to a safe, healthy and future-proof working environment.

You get it done

Health & Safety is a strategic pillar within our European Contract Logistics organisation. In this role, you will be responsible for setting direction in policy, governance, standards, and the further development of a proactive safety culture. This is a key position in which you will have direct influence on the European strategy, be visible to senior leadership, and create lasting impact on the safety of thousands of employees across our operations: you’re on it.

How you do this? By further developing, implementing and embedding the European Safety & Health strategy across all Contract Logistics sites in Europe. You will be responsible for a consistent and future-proof Safety & Health approach, ensuring uniform standards, governance and processes, while also overseeing compliance with ISO 45001, European directives, and local laws and regulations. In addition, you will act as a strategic advisor and escalation point for senior management on complex safety matters.

Together with local teams, operational management and international stakeholders, you will strengthen the safety culture and translate strategic objectives into concrete improvement initiatives. You will focus on managing risks within warehousing and automated logistics environments, and use data-driven insights and innovative technologies to further improve safety performance. You achieve this by:

  • developing, implementing and continuously improving a uniform European Safety & Health operating model;
  • leading risk management programmes for automated logistics environments, including machines, robots, conveyors, MHE, racking systems and traffic flows;
  • ensuring effective safety controls for high-risk activities such as lockout/tagout, working at height, hot work, contractor management and permit-to-work processes;
  • standardising and professionalising incident management, risk assessments, root cause analyses, safety reporting, and corrective and preventive actions;
  • strengthening the safety culture through training, leadership programmes, behavioural safety initiatives, Smart Safety technologies, and KPI-driven management such as LTIFR, TRIR and incident frequency.

Your team stands out within DSV by a combination of strategic strength and operational engagement. Together with local Safety & Health specialists and business leaders, you will work on strengthening the safety culture, managing risks and delivering sustainable improvements across our European Contract Logistics operations. You will report to the Lead S3HQ Europe and work closely with Global and Corporate Safety & Health, giving you a visible and influential role within the international organisation.

You bring

  • a completed Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, preferably in Safety, Health, Engineering, Operations Management or a similar field, complemented by a relevant and recognised Health & Safety qualification;
  • at least 8–12 years’ experience in Health & Safety within logistics, warehousing, production or industrial environments, with experience in automated processes and material handling systems as a strong advantage;
  • proven expertise in implementing and maintaining management systems in line with ISO 45001, including experience with European legislation and compliance within a multi-country organisation;
  • extensive experience in risk management, incident investigation, root cause analysis, and the development and implementation of effective control measures for operational and high-risk activities;
  • strong stakeholder management and leadership skills, with proven success in advising, influencing and challenging senior management, international customers and operational teams to achieve Health & Safety objectives;
