Move forward as Junior Freight Forwarder at DSV in Venlo
As a junior freight forwarder, you are ready to push boundaries, both literally and figuratively. With the expansion of our Special Services department, you and your team will have the opportunity to dive into challenging and unique shipments. No two days are the same, and together you will create tailored solutions that make an impression.

You get it done
Anything that doesn’t fit within standard transport options falls to the special services department. Whether it involves medical equipment, complete store setups, or special shipments to and from England, you work on it.

How will you do this? As a junior freight forwarder, you play a crucial role in the logistics process. You ensure that transport shipments are handled smoothly and quickly, whether for deliveries within Europe or beyond. If you have arranged transport to England, you not only manage the outbound journey but also strategically plan the return trip. By scheduling multiple pickups, you make the trip more profitable. Additionally, you build and maintain a strong network, both within the company and with external partners. You achieve all this by:

  • planning shipments for own trailers and special shipments as efficiently as possible, minimizing kilometers and maximizing load factors;
  • independently negotiating rates and optimizing transport combinations;
  • proactively communicating and informing clients, partners, and drivers;
  • monitoring shipments and identifying irregularities related to loading, unloading, and delivery.

Your team at DSV is distinguished by a mix of highly experienced and new colleagues. Together, you form a close-knit team where everyone is willing to support each other and learn from one another. Enjoyment at work is our priority. The special services department is not only a place of hard work but also of camaraderie and a lot of humor.

We are DSV, we grow
DSV is a global provider of transport and logistics services. With offices in more than 90 countries and a growing network of partners, there is no place in the world we cannot reach via transport by air, sea, rail, courier or road or where we can offer storage in warehouses.

With our own fleet delivering daily to many destinations in Europe for clients with specific requirements, no challenge is too great. We challenge you to make the impossible possible,
says Dennis Jansen, Team Lead Trucking Special Services.

In the Netherlands, we operate from over 25 branches, with more than 3,000 colleagues. Together we rise to the challenge of a rapidly changing environment. We make quick decisions at every level and combine ambition and teamwork. This is how we move forward and make a difference together.

You bring

  • do you already have some knowledge of transport or a qualification in logistics? Great! If not, we’re happy to teach you the ropes;
  • our drivers also travel to places like England on weekends; a few times a year, you’ll need to be available for escalations over the weekend. Of course, this comes with a generous compensation;
  • are you curious about customs processes for shipments to the UK? We will teach you everything you need to know and help you become proficient in the field;
  • a good command of both Dutch and English. If you also speak some German, that’s a plus!

It all counts for the junior freight forwarder position in Venlo. It’s also crucial that you feel at home with us. This will certainly be the case if you are proactive, have courage, and want to grow with DSV.
