Move Forward with as a Trainee Road Learning Lab

With our road learning lab, we offer you an intensive training program where you will be trained as a transport professional through learning on the job. You will acquire essential skills and knowledge in transport, planning, customer contact, and the importance of order management. DSV gives you the opportunity to discover which roles within the transport industry suit you during this journey. You’re on it.

How you do this? As the cherry on top, this program concludes with an official NL QF level 3 (mbo-3) diploma, giving your career in the transport sector a kick-start. Throughout the training program, you will go through various blocks, walking through different departments where you will discover and master various aspects of the transport world. 

The various departments where you will gain experience, are linked to several modules, where you will learn, among other things:

• advising customers, handling price requests, creating and providing (one-time) price quotes, following up on them, and understanding how the customer should book a shipment;
• creating and checking orders and working with a transport management system. You will also engage in customer contact for clarifications or deviations, plan groupage transports, prepare documentation and register transports;
• loading and unloading goods, collaborating and coordinating with drivers, operating a forklift & EPT. You will also check transportation documents (checkpoint) and have the opportunity to ride along with one of our distribution drivers for two sessions;
• handling transport requests. You will create the most optimal route and schedule planning for our own trucks, input your plans into our transport management system, and ensure a good balance between service and price agreements;
• understanding the financial settlement of our transport shipments. In this final link of the chain, all the knowledge and experience you gained earlier come together. This includes invoicing, the correct financial settlement, and analyzing disputes, bottlenecks or escalations.

Are you on track? Your progress and knowledge will be assessed through practical assignments and theory tests, in line with the learning blocks. In addition to practical assignments, various e-learning modules and cases will be used to assess your proficiency. At the DSV Learning Lab, you have the opportunity to develop yourself and become a transport professional with a diploma in hand. • some knowledge of transport and logistics is a plus, but we find good motivation much more important;
