Embark on an exciting journey with DSV Saudi Arabia as a Road Freight Operations Specialist! We're on the lookout for a skilled professional to take charge of coordinating and executing road cargo operations, ensuring the efficient and timely movement of goods through road transportation.
Responsibilities:
In this dynamic role, you will be responsible for:
- Heavy Lift and Oversize Cargo Operations
- Ensuring full adherence to all KSA road regulations for land and sea transportation
- Carrying out prior to operation a full route survey and identify all risk areas plus any road hazards such as low bridges, overhead wires, low capacity roads and bridges and cargo related hazards
- Review a full loading and unloading plan in the form of a computerized drawing that highlights centre of gravity, lashing and bracing points, jacking or lifting method, load distribution (weight and mass) graphs
- Review heavy lift method statements as and when required which will also include will include barges, vessels and land modes of transportation
- Review heavy lift stability, sea fastening, ballasting and centre of gravity of loads
- Providing support and training in order to ensure all cargo is correctly lashed to withstand all forces that may act upon it.
- Briefing drivers regarding the “static stability factor” and advising on safe cornering speeds for the route surveyed
- Having a full working knowledge of oversize cargo transportation both on land and sea
- Supervising all health and safety related issues and to adhere to all quality plans and objectives
- Preparing and conducting loading plan briefings
- Carrying out tool box talks and training when required
- Ensuring the timely movement of all heavy lift cargo for both sea and land transportation
- Ensuring all operations are carried out within budgeted targets
- Ensuring full compliance with the logistics procurement process
- Supporting other transport operations when required
- Ensure that all work under their supervision is carried out in accordance with standard QHSE procedures.
- Ensure that all facilities, tools and equipment used by employees are safe and if needed certified
- Conduct regular inspections / audits of their respective departments to assess HSE hazards in the working area.
- Ensure that personnel are competent with proper training and qualified as well as certified before assigning of work.
- Ensure proper use of protective clothing and equipment by employees.
- Ensure that emergency equipment such as firefighting systems including fire extinguishers are in operating condition and trained personnel are present in all shifts
- Ensure that all unsafe acts, near miss incidents and accidents are reported and proper investigation is carried out.
- Ensure that follow-up actions from audits and inspections are closed out as soon as possible.
Educational Qualifications & Certifications:
To excel in this role, you should possess:
A Bachelor’s degree in Logistics or freight forwarding.
A minimum of 5 years of work experience within the Freight Forwarding industry.
International working experience is preferred.
Proficiency in using freight management systems, tracking software, and MS Office applications.
Knowledge of international road cargo regulations, customs procedures, and trade compliance standards.
