Transport Planner

DSV is recruiting for a Transport Planner based in Immingham. This role involves planning and coordinating the transport of goods across our network of 40 trucks, ensuring that deliveries and collections are efficient and timely. Reporting to the Transport Manager and General Manager, you will be part of a dedicated team of four planners who play a key role in maintaining our logistics excellence and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
Key Tasks
- Plan and schedule routes and workloads for drivers, ensuring optimal vehicle utilisation and on-time performance.
- Liaise with drivers, subcontractors, and inter-company partners to address updates, delays, or issues.
- Monitor the transport management system to ensure real-time updates on delivery progress.
- Ensure compliance with HGV driving hours, the Working Time Directive, and company Operating Licence requirements.
Duties / Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day communication with drivers to support efficient operations.
- Address and resolve changes to schedules and routes as needed throughout the day.
- Track and achieve key performance indicators (KPIs) related to mileage and revenue.
- Ensure subcontractors meet or exceed agreed minimum weekly earnings.
- Support drivers in maintaining adherence to health, safety, and legal regulations.
- Participate in Saturday morning shifts on a rota basis.
Skills and Competencies
- Minimum 1-2 years of HGV transport planning experience.
- Strong organisational and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and adapt to changes quickly.
- Familiarity with transport management systems and data entry processes.
- Knowledge of HGV driving regulations and the Working Time Directive.
