Summary
The Sustainability Assistant supports DSV’s regional sustainability strategy with a strong focus on Scope 3 emissions analysis, sustainable logistics solutions, and commercial enablement. The role works cross‑functionally with Sustainability, Commercial, Product, and Finance teams to analyze emissions data, support development of sustainability tools, and help translate decarbonization options (e.g., Sustainable Aviation Fuel, sustainable marine fuels, and EV trucking) into practical, client‑facing insights.
This position combines analytical work, data coordination, and stakeholder support to help accelerate adoption of lower‑emission logistics solutions and improve transparency around cost and carbon impacts.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Support analysis of DSV’s Scope 3 emissions reduction levers across air, ocean, and road transport, including data gathering and validation
- Assist in developing and maintaining sustainability tools and calculators (e.g., Excel‑based or BI tools) that quantify cost, emissions impact, and cost per ton of CO₂e avoided for sustainable logistics solutions
- Collect, organize, and quality‑check data inputs such as route and lane data, emissions factors (GLEC / ISO‑aligned), fuel and electricity cost assumptions, and carbon pricing inputs
- Support scenario analysis and sensitivity testing (fuel prices, carbon prices, load factors, and attribution approaches) to inform internal decision‑making and client discussions
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders across Sustainability, Commercial, Product, Finance, and Analytics teams to document assumptions, methodologies, and data sources
- Assist commercial teams by preparing summaries, one‑page outputs, and supporting materials that explain sustainability impacts and financial tradeoffs to customers
- Help document sustainability methodologies, assumptions registers, and guidance materials to ensure consistency in client reporting and internal use
- Contribute to internal presentations, pilot summaries, and recommendations related to scaling sustainable logistics products and tools
- Perform general sustainability support tasks as assigned, including data requests, coordination of meetings, and preparation of internal documentation
Educational background / Work experience
- Bachelor’s degree in sustainability, environmental science, engineering, business, economics, data analytics, or a related field
- 1–3 years of relevant experience in sustainability, emissions accounting, data analysis, logistics, transportation, or consulting (internship or project‑based experience acceptable)
- Familiarity with greenhouse gas accounting concepts, particularly Scope 3 emissions, is strongly preferred
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to work with structured datasets and perform scenario analysis
- High proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, formulas, scenario modeling); familiarity with BI or data visualization tools is a plus
- Ability to clearly document assumptions, methodologies, and data limitations
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate technical information into clear, practical insights
- Comfort working cross‑functionally and managing inputs from multiple stakeholders
- Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks in parallel
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with transport emissions frameworks (GLEC Framework, ISO 14083) or emissions tools (e.g., EcoTransIT or similar)
- Exposure to sustainable fuels, low‑carbon transport solutions, or lifecycle assessment concepts.
- Experience supporting commercial or customer‑facing teams with analytical or sustainability insights.
Language skills
- Fluent in English (oral and written)
Computer Literacy
- Proficient in using Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
