Supervisor, Warehouse

DSV are recruiting for a PM shift Supervisor, Operations based at Unit 1 Mercia Park.  

 

We are seeking an organized, reliable, detailed and service-oriented warehouse supervisor to join our growing team.  

In this position, you will work with and support the Warehouse Operations Manager in delivering/exceeding contractual customer KPI’s within the warehouse to an agreed budget, whilst driving Health & Safety and best practice within the operational environment. Previous warehouse experience is required. The ideal candidate must be driven and want progression throughout DSV. 

 

Duties / Responsibilities 

  • Coordinate and oversee all warehouse logistics. 

  • Supervise and direct warehouse staff; put worker safety as a top priority. 

  • Track and account for all incoming and outgoing products. 

  • Confirm proper and timely delivery of products. 

  • Order supplies and goods as needed. 

  • Supervise forklift operations. 

  • Maintain warehouse and machinery, ensuring equipment is serviced when needed. 

  • Maintain good standards of housekeeping. 

  • Maintain shipping documentation, manifests, and receipts; enter relevant data in reports as needed. 

  • Ensure that shipment materials match packing lists before dispatching orders. 

  • Ensure proper transport, packaging, and placement of products. 

  • Abide by and enforce facility rules, statutory and regulatory laws. 

  • Improve warehouse work processes through strategic planning to create a more efficient fulfilment system. 

  • Review timeliness of scheduled deliveries. 

  • Track inventory levels. 

  • Order new supplies in a timely manner. 

  • Make suggestions for productivity improvements. 

  • Report non-conformances. 

  • Track and monitor warehouse KPIs. 

  • The Supervisor will also be expected to act up for management to cover leave and absence. 

  • PEOPLE MANAGEMENT 

  • Motivate and lead warehouse staff to effectively carry out given tasks. 

  • Assist in the hiring and training process of new warehouse staff. 

  • Constantly work to improve processes. 

  • Optimize employee workflow. 

  • Communicate and collaborate with other team members. 

  • Train, guide and evaluate new warehouse workers. 

  • Take part in grievance and disciplinary hearings. 

  • Monitor performance and absence and carry out return to works and conduct welfare meetings. 

 

EXPERIENCE 

  • Supervisory and Team Leader skills with the ability to motivate, develop and supervise others  

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills  

  • Good IT skills, in particular spreadsheets and databases and a knowledge of warehouse systems  

  • Analytical and numerical  

  • Good understanding of customer deliverables and the impact of failure / cost of poor quality  

  • Good planning skills and able to meet targets and deadlines.  

  • Excellent attention to detail skills

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS 

  • GCSEs Level A-C, NVQ Level 2,  

  • An appropriate warehousing qualification would be advantageous. 

  • Certified in: Dangerous Goods Handling. (training will be given to the successful candidate) 

  • A supervisory qualification would also be beneficial.  

  • Proven experience as a Warehouse Team Leader with experience of supervising and motivating a team.  

  • A good working knowledge of health and safety and security requirements.  

  • Knowledge and understanding of lean techniques may be advantageous. 

  • Fork-Lift Truck licence is preferable.
