Facility Assistant

Main Purpose of  Job:

To ensure smooth and efficient running of Mercia Park (Tamworth) Hub and Post Room. Provide maintenance and security to the Site.


Maintenance & Administration of building, grounds and associated equipment

  • To maintain premises to a high standard and complete checks/inspections as defined.
  • To be proactive in all maintenance and make good all areas as defined within your areas of competence.
  • To liaise with third party contractors i.e. plumbers, electricians etc. and ensure that all maintenance work is carried out to statutory and company requirements
  • To keep records of work carried out on site to ensure servicing and maintenance of all equipment is up to date
  • Basic porterage across site
  • To work alongside location facilities team (Facilities Assistant and Facilities Coordinator) to ensure tasks are completed considering priorities of the site
  • To be the first (jointly) named key holder and be able to respond to any emergency calls during the hours of 1700 – 0800 Hrs
  • Will be required to be available weekends for special tasks or contractor management
  • To carry out gardening duties as defined
  • To ensure external areas are maintained and safe
  • To maintain and inspect all fire equipment as defined
  • To complete the weekly fire alarm system and assist in fire drills
  • Maintain and inspect all fire equipment as defined
  • Will be required to participate in Health & Safety committee meetings
  • Will be required to be Fire Marshall
  • Maintain appropriate records
  • To take control of spillage equipment (training will be given)
  • To ensure all kitchens and washrooms are replenished with appropriate stocks
  • Working with Reception role closely to monitor reactive maintenance requests


  • Ensure all office administration is carried out in accordance with company requirements to include:
  • Ordering of goods, keeping records and stock levels maintained
  • Assist with archiving duties and maintain overspill of archiving in containers.
  • To ensure that all the correct goods are in the appropriate bins and the external bin area is kept secure and tidy.
  • Keep all appropriate records
  • Manage and implement the DSV Waste procedure, ensuring the companies Duty of Care is under legislation, this includes ensuring correct segregation and ensuring correct records are maintained.
  • To assist in all Health, Safety & Environment procedures, including audits.
  • To assist with co-ordinators of any special event to ensure that their requirements are satisfied.   This may mean extra or earlier working times and additional work.


Special Responsibilities/Key Tasks

Must be very proactive, organised, and reliable. Very active role, must be physically able to complete tasks

Forklift truck license would be an advantage
