Purpose of the job:
The IT Test Engineer (IT Test Manager) is responsible for planning, designing, executing, and documenting software testing activities to ensure that IT systems, applications, and integrations meet business and technical requirements. The role focuses on delivering high-quality software by identifying defects, validating functionality, and supporting continuous improvement throughout the software development lifecycle.
Responsibility/ Tasks:
- Analyze business and functional requirements to develop test scenarios and test cases
- Plan, prepare, execute, and document functional, integration, regression, system, and user acceptance testing
- Validate software functionality against business requirements and acceptance criteria
- Identify, document, prioritize, and track software defects through resolution
- Collaborate with developers, business analysts, solution managers, and business users to resolve issues
- Prepare and maintain test plans, test cases, test scripts, and test documentation
- Support test environment preparation and test data management
- Participate in release validation and deployment verification activities
- Perform manual testing and support automated testing initiatives where applicable
- Contribute to continuous improvement of testing processes, standards, and methodologies
- Provide regular test status reports and quality metrics to project stakeholders
- Participate in Agile ceremonies and support quality assurance throughout the software development lifecycle
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field
- Minimum 2–5 years of experience in software or application testing
- Strong understanding of software testing principles, methodologies, and best practices
- Experience with test management and defect tracking tools (e.g., Jira, Azure DevOps,etc)
- Knowledge of SQL and database validation techniques
- Familiarity with API testing tools
- Understanding of Agile/Scrum development methodologies
- Experience with enterprise business applications is an advantage
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within cross-functional teams
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Proactive and structured working approach
- Ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines
- Continuous learning mindset and willingness to improve testing practices
