The Safety & Maintenance Coordinator is responsible for ensuring that the site is compliant with all applicable guidelines as it relates to safety and equipment maintenance.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Primary POC regarding facility issues including awareness and training personnel in day to day operations. The following specific requirements apply:

  • Ensuring vehicles, service is completed as needed. Tour warehouses on a regular basis to ensure racking and equipment are safe and ready to operate. Make recommendations to senior management on programs to improve the maintenance for equipment. 
  • Develop and implement a preventive maintenance program for all equipment that will minimize disruptions in warehouse operations and ensure the maximum useful life of the equipment. Monitor all materials handling equipment (MHE) maintenance activities, making sure that all equipment is serviced as required.  This may involve outside service providers.
  • Enforce established housekeeping policies and procedures to minimize staff injuries, lost production time, damage and contamination of product pertaining to operating equipment. ensure PIT operations are following OSHA and other applicable standards.
  • Communicates and enforces DSV safety policies as needed.
  • Audits all operation processes in relation to PIT.
  • Holding daily start up meetings with all P.I.T. operators before they start on safe operation of the machines, ensuring everyone is wearing safety glasses and safety shoes.

 

 

 

 

OTHER DUTIES: 

 

•           Ensuring that all Power Industrial Trucks (P.I.T.) are being serviced/repaired while partnering with the  

client.

•          

•           Audit and file Daily Operators Checklist.

•           Ensures trailers are locked (Glad-Hand Lock) and chocked.

•           Audit Dock Safety Checklist.                                                                                            

•           Inspect dock doors, lights and dock plates.

•           Inspect Fall Protection (harness/lanyards) for the Order Picker P.I.T.

•           Ensure all P.I.T.s are being charged properly.

•           Inspect racking for damages where P.I.T.s operate.

•           Ensure P.I.T. operators are operating machines safely, stopping at intersections, beeping horns when traveling, giving pedestrians the right of way, and maintaining safe speeds.

•           Train and certified P.I.T. operators as needed.

•           Schedule must be flexible.

 

Performs other duties as required by site management

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Education and/or Experience: High School Diploma or Equivalent
  2. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations or Professional Designations

 

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES

  1. Computer Skills: Microsoft Office Suite
  2. Language Skills: English (reading, writing, verbal)
  3. Mathematical Skills:  Standard
  4. Other Skills: Position may require background checks and additional training and testing for DSA, CTPAT, etc.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:  Previous experience and/or exposure to basic maintenance skills, but not Mandatory
